It appears to be a pick off play. Maybe called by the catcher with the pitcher acknowledging by taking the ball from his glove. The catcher then knows they're on the same page. Pitch is intentionally high and fast to allow the catcher to be in perfect position to finish the runner at first. Takes much practice with everyone thinking. Great execution.
