Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! I thought Jose Ramirez was gonna own Houston tonight! I guess they really do love playing to the level of their competition. What up Cleveland? Cecconi is terrible. Terrible. Has been this year and honestly was unpredictable last year. Coach, why did you leave him in that long? 1st inning was a taste that he’d be bad. And our bullpen is so laughably bad, I can’t believe these guys are pitching in the big leagues.
The Astros basically have a Redshirt system for veteran players in the lame duck year(s) of their contract. It's like a Senioritis situation where the player and team know what the future holds so the player begins to protect his future (preventing injuries, by not playing through "inflammation"), and the team begins to heavily invest in his replacement or overload at his position in preparation for his departure. It's sad because both parties lose one year, but as a fan, I guess understanding the why gives me peace of mind. The last year of super star Astros players are a sunk cost, and sunk year of production, unless both sides are committed to a deal and make it before the season begins. It ultimately hurts the team because it is a distraction. Every year there was a super star in this situation, the Astros fell short of their goals and it was a constant topic (Correa first time, Bregman, etc). You have a 99% chance of not going deep in the playoffs that particular season (let alone winning a world series) if you and your best players or leaders of the team are not secured. It will always affect team efficiency and chemistry.
If the Astros fix their pitching they'll win ball games
