    Why did Vientos keep running when the coach was telling him to stop?
    This is exactly the kind of thing that shows the Mets are finished as a team right now.

    It's good that Soto is back and Lindor is injured.
    The Mets will improve from here on out; Lindor was just a hindrance.

    OK.. lets breath some perspective and optimism into the situation. A 12 game losing streak is worrisome because the data of over 100 years of MLB play suggests a losing streak of this length is not just bad luck or bad play but a sign of being fundementally a bad team. But I believe the Mets will go against the data. They may have played badly but they do have taleneted players, there is plenty of baseball left to get back to .500 and then go from there. At 8 and 16 theyre eight games below .500. But then again in 2024 they were at one point 13 games under .500. The Mets just need the team cohesion to develop and I believd they do have the talent to start winning. But here is some data optimism. Before the 12 game losing streak the Mets had won 4 in a row. With the win last nigh they are therefore 5 and 12 over that stretch. Had just 2 of those games broke a bit differntly they wouldve been 7 and 10…. not good but not alarming… just 2 games. If the Mets win say 20 of their next 30 games… go 20 and 10…. that would make them 28 and 26 and dig us out of this hole…. not great but over .500 at the one third mark… 54 games…reasonably situated to be in the race with 108 games remaining. Point is if they just start winning at a clip that is reasonable given their individual talent there really is lots of baseball left to recover. More than enough. So whats your assessment. Just a bad stretch that they can recover from or did 12 losses in a row reveal a fundamentally flawed bad team? I say bad stretch. Doesnt matter how the wins and losses stack up.. in rows or just day to day consistency. It all adds up the same. Just start playing good ball.

    Not a Mets fan, but it’s good to see Soto back. It’s always best for the game when the stars are out there doing their thing.

    It will be fascinating to see if any of the Mets, Phillies, Red Sox can save their seasons. One or two will probably recover to the point of WC contention, but none of these teams are winning a division.

    So the Mets win for the first time since Lincoln reunited the nation and all it cost us was Francisco Lindor…sigh.
