  1. This team seriously needs to consider signing JD Martinez. The best hitting remaining free agent, Martinez would be a monster to bat after Vladdy and Santander. The Jays NEED another bat!

  2. I'm not sure about a cap.

That would eventually require superstar players to sign in undesired locations, effectively eliminating FA's ability to choose.

FA after Six service years is about more than money – its also about choice after a decade of being a puppet.

I think they add 2 playoff teams to each league because that will eliminate the bye for the division winners. That bye is the biggest barrier to legit playoff competition if a super team always gets it.
Let them face a .500 team in the first round – if they are so good.

I know the TV deals will become an issue at some point. Apparently, MLB wants to put them all under a single umbrella and sell them to streaming services.
Not sure if thats a CB arguement, but I'd hate to see Rogers lose their main revenue source for the team they own.

  3. Doesn't this feel like we just added this haul to the 2023 team? I think we can forget 2024. The guys look ready. (No guarantees of course)

Everyone looks great, but is Miles Straw going to earn his 6m in the spring?
He's playing like an MVP in comparison to what anyone thought he would.

I was more generous than most, suggesting that he was a late inning runner/d only. I think He's got the backup fielder role locked down for now.

He's impressed me as much as anyone.

  4. A work stoppage can easily be avoided just add a stiffer tax hit if a team breaks the threshold. Take away additional draft picks (4-6 more) from over spenders and take away additional International money as well. Severly limit deferred money. Impose penalties on low spending teams as well (95 mil minimum per year needs to be spent on payroll. )Make all the penalties loophole free. Leave no room for workarounds. Owners are going to stop paying good money to mid tier free agents they will opt to just use a young player and/or look to sign bounce back players to cheap contracts.

  5. The MLBPA is primarily concentrated on the higher paid players getting more money and more control over their contracts. This is not good for fans. There are two sides negotiating the CBA: The owners on one side and the players and their agents on the other. The fans are not part of the process but both will use the fans to get an advantage over the other
