I have made a pilgrimage to the holy place Komoro City, Nagano Prefecture, the setting of the anime “Waiting in the Summer” abbreviated as “Natsumachi”.
(An original Japanese TV animation work by J.C. STAFF, broadcast from January to March 2012).
We entered Komoro by transferring from the Hokuriku Shinkansen to the Koumi Line at Sakuhira Station, which also appears in the play.
Giant Rinon (for the portable shrine?) greets you on the station platform. (for the portable shrine?) welcomes you at the station platform.
Walk around Miharashi-niwa (garden), Kogaku-ji Temple, the main and side camps of the former Komoro Inn, and the Komoro Castle on the Hokkoku Kaido Road.
On the way, we stopped by Ichizen-meshi Ageha-ya, a restaurant associated with Shimazaki Toson, “Home-roasted coffee shop Komoro” and “Souvenir shop Miyasaka” where Natsumachi goods are on display.
Komoro is the hometown of manga artist Itsuke Oyamada, whose works include “Sukurappu Book,” so we saw many of his characters here and there in the city.
(The princess character of Komoro Castle? Princess Violet of Komoro was also designed by Iku Oyamada. It seems to be based on the image of Komoro Violet, a violet indigenous to Komoro.)
The cartoonist Mr. Hiroshi Tagami, who is known for Karuizawa Syndrome, is a younger brother of Mr. Iku Oyamada.

It seems that “Komoro Dokansho Natsumachiren” is scheduled to be held in August 2022, after 3 years!
