There’s no point in moving that queen to that that that that pawn to that position money. i think the castling thing just felt like a cheap move for the guy, i imagine he told her the basics not expecting much but then ran into the situation where he was loosing but could win by using it but felt shame becuase its a move he didnt explain to her so it kind of seemed like cheating in a way to him
I think "Old Man Sam's" song is the piggy song from earlier episodes.

Old Man Sam's Song is the nursery rhyme she was singing earlier. Each year us the total of the previous 2 years: year one is 1, year two is 1, year three is 2, year four is three, etc. It represents the golden ratio, which to mathematicians is the perfect equation. Which is why she finds comfort in concentrating on it in times of stress.
Them introducing Professor Macragen with that dreaded music which was supposed to be just for Louis only for them to show him as a background character in that flashback is absolutely wild 😂. The man looks like he aged 20 years which is impossible cause Monica is only 16
And yes, Old Man Sam's song is the pig song which unfortunately doesn't exist irl😭

For reference, the last time Monica's mana was measured, it was 2 years ago when she became one of the Seven Sages (at age 14).
And when she said she was still growing, that is just the anime simplifying the explanation at that moment in the manga and novel that mana power grows the MOST for mages from puberty to adulthood(18-20).
So at age 14, still around the beginning of her puberty, she was already 202.
And the text around this moment implied that the increase since then could easily be in the several tens, and that she could easily be above 250 at her current age, and that it still wouldn't be finished growing.
The thing with that chess scene is something they didn’t mentioned that is said in the LN. All seven sages are Counts, so Monica is actually High Nobility and when she became a sage she was trained by Louis in warfare, that’s why she ask all that things about terrain and stuff
Now I’m confused. How old is Monica, actually? Back when she was still in the academy, she didn’t look much different. But her professor… why does it feel like twenty years have passed?
I think the anime simply cut this. The reason Glenn (the new bro) was hiding the fact (?) that he killed a dragon in the beginning of the episode is because his master (Louis) forbids him to use magic outside of his training due to how bad he is with his controlling. Similar to Monica, Glenn is very scared of angering his master.
BTW Glenn was placed in this school at the same time as Monica (Under Louis' order). Because Glenn is publicly known as Louis' student, so he will be considered by the second prince as "The Barrier Mage (who is known to be good with the first prince) sent this person in to poke around intelligent about second prince". Basically Glen was sent in the academy as a scapegoat for Monica's actual mission, or at least the second prince won't consider the possibility that it was Louis who sent Monica over for this reason.
BTW Glenn has 0 clue about Monica's identity and mission because he's bad at keeping secrets. He also has 0 idea that he was sent to the academy as a scapegoat for Monica.
Supporting the algorithm with my comment
If you are confused why he just lost his pawn to the queen, it's just a normal move. We don't know the full context of the move here. For example maybe he's trying to lure his queen to another position so that he can take another piece whereas the queen was guarding it, or it may be another reason. In chess, you don't just get the lead by capturing free pieces, but getting better positions to attack or defend is what determines if you are winning or not. So getting a free piece doesn't really matter in chess if the opposition knows what they're doing.

I'd assume her grades don't particularly matter, even though I suppose she's smart enough to cruise through the school work on this assignment without much issue. So aside from protecting the prince, she can just enjoy learning new things and meeting new people… at least as far as her social anxiety will allow. It's extra wholesome that everyone she meets kinda wants to protect her even though she needs the least protection of all.
The Old Man Sam song is the one counting the fibonacci sequence with pigs. Monica's almost obsessed with it.
