  1. I agree it’s weird and it’s not Even the worse case
Don’t know why but I noticed that japanese anime and manga tend to sexualize a lot VERY young girls (no older than 12). They often try to make it pass/more acceptable by making it an older woman in a child’s body, by making the little girl initiate the sexual advances on a male lead who (often) refuses or by making it seem like there’s nothing wrong with a little girl randomly being naked in front of an older boy (like it’s just our minds being dirty) but it still grosses me out and I find it highly disturbing that this is a thing in Japan and that they don’t even notice it

  2. Anime in general has a problem with its female characters. Have you noticed how many shows have a single male main character completely surrounded by female supporting characters? And those female supporting characters are often walking, talking tropes with no real personality, generally held up as a "Which one of these adoring girls will our MC pick?" situation or, even worse, they just go a full-on harem route.

This is why I watch so little anime these days. There are very, very few shows worth spending time on each season.

  3. I totally agree. It made my cringe too. But I have to say, as a woman, there are some things that soften the blow for me.
    1. Her mind is one of a 16 yo and that makes their mental age gap 3 years, which is fine by my standards. And I am very critical about things like that. When I was 16 I thought it's alright to have a boyfriend who is 10 years older, because I had a crush. NU UH! I know better know. The thing is that you just don't know better. In their case it's a little different, because ..
    2. his character actually feels younger. I constantly had the feeling that this sheltered emperor has the mind of a golden retriever. He has no experience with people whatsoever. And he feels a little bit like a caricature at times for comedic relief. He feels like a teenager, who got the first attention in his life and immediately falls in love, because of that. In that regard I actually like how their relationship develops.

Still weird though. So weird. I mean when both parties are older then appearances maybe don't matter, but she is a child. Ew.
But because of how she acted I sometimes forgot about that fact. Argh.

In the end, themasterminds are women (can't say more without a majoy spoiler).
