I think Harry Potter and the various Studio Ghibli films were a big inspiration for this series.

Ps: kubo is going to be even more busy from now on with tybw since the first 2 parts have adapted more than 50% of the manga arc, so next 2 cour will have way more original material from kubo to complete other 26 eps
I got this mixed up with another witch story where she worked for a legal firm for witches. I forgot the title of that one.
With that out of the way, I have never seen Burn the Witch. So, I went to watch the first chapter. It's alright but I cannot stand Bulgo. This 0.8 one is like a prequel to the 3 part series.
I think kubo saying everytime someone asks him about writing more he delays it even more was a joke but also it wasn't about burn the witch it was about something else he wrote after the manga ended. I'm sure you heard about it already but just in case i won't say what it is.
The ringtone at the end was the sailor moon opening song
