It surprised me….it has potential. Anything tangentially tied to the 3 fate routes grabs people’s attention. If this is popular maybe it will encourage them to give UBW a proper follow up.

My favorite Fate Anime is Babylonia! it beats all the movies and Fate routes because I always keep coming back to watch my favorite scenes. I got into Fate because Fate Zero by Urobuchi was the combination of philosophical pontification and high action sequences and because I did not know anything about Fate Stay Night, I was completely blind about who was the main character and main villain, so I was completely invested in the world, characters and story. Somehow, Strange/Fake is just as good, the Lore is strong with this one and having some fan service (Spider mentioned = LB7) has made this incredible sixth anniversary, extraordinary!
this is one of the last events on the main fsn timelines. the order of events in anime is fate zero ,garden of sinners, case files, fsn, then this is the animated timeline
You don't quite see it in what was adapted here, but FSF is something of a love letter to the Nasuverse. They pull stuff from everywhere and it's glorious. And since Narita is a hell of a writer, it still works well even if this is your first exposure to Fate.
As someone who has been reading the Fate/strange Fake manga, this is my favorite Fate story by far. Can't wait for the anime, especially to see my favorite servant Assassin's great moments in their full glory.
Even i didnt understand most of the lore things happened in this OVA due to being a noob Fate watcher but still, i'm hype as heck. ;3

Like seriously every manga reader knows, jack the ripper from the legend in strange is such a beast. He will show you what it means to be a berserker. Then there are Gilgamesh and Enkidu basically the 2 strongest characters in their respective class when not considering some GRAND PEOPLE. Furthermore the black rider is not something you can just ignore or he will fuck you up. The upcoming servants are all INSANELY STRONG. They all put the fate zero and ubw lineup to shame. The lineup here in this anime is the lobby where only the top dogs play. I kid you not. If you know about the things that are coming then you know. It is fucking crazy but I don’t wanna spoil the light novel.
The firework display from both Gil & Enkidu was spectacular 🎆🎇

God I love Gilgamesh so much, every time a Zasshu escapes his lips , my smile gets bigger and bigger.
I’ve been watching through the anime adaptation of Grand Order over the last week so that I had the necessary context for this one, specifically the context for Gilgamesh and Enkidu. Didn’t really help that much with that and I ended up sitting through like 12 hours of mediocrity so I did what any reasonable person would do and started to read up on the relationship between the two, and actually read a version of the Epic of Gilgamesh (didn’t really like the way it was written either), but now I at least know more of the lore.
After that I decided To take a detour and watch the El-Melloi case files but after a few episodes I couldn’t take it anymore and started this now. Still glad I at least watched a bit of it so I know the characters on Waver’s side of the story. I really like the interactions on their part

Gilgamesh immediately bringing out Ea once he senses him and flying off to the battle… well, all I can say:
Fucking. Epic.
Easily, EASILY, the best part of these 55 minutes (well, for me it was more like 2 1/2 hours because I kept going back to previous scenes to bask in all their glory)

You were not kidding, this DOES have the potential to become one of the best Fates.
I just finished volume 23 of Mushoku Tensei last night, I’m gonna go for the LN for this immediately… I have them on my shelf alrseady anyway… (well after I actually finish El-Melloi‘s case files now).
The only thing this show misses now to be a perfect Fate is the voice of Jouji Nakata. (And I’m quite a bit saddened by the fact that we don’t get a Yuki Kajiura OST this time around, but hey what can you do…believe it or not but I’m actually not that big of a fan of Hiroyuki Sawano)
This literally had everything, and it reminded me quite a bit of the start of Fate Zero:
Just the right amount of „exposition“ with great presentation to it, great set-up for the characters and their motivation, beautiful visuals on every front, and an intense battle royal.
This might actually be the one to rival Kara no Kyoukai, FaTe Zero, or Tsukihime(manga/VN), which are, for me, the ones who established themselves as the best entries of the franchise so far (haven’t seen/read/played Witch on the Holy Night yet). This was fucking awesome, beginning to end!
Not entirely the best thing I’ve seen, even recently, that would go to either MT volume 23 or the entirety of the manga „The Summer You Were There“ that I read over the weekend, but still the potential is there for the TV version after this to become quite a challenger to the big names.
From me, for now I’ll bestow this a 9/10, the same score as I gave to Fate Zero, just a slight bit below it still.
P.s., just for myself, cuz I’m forgetful and sht, I’m making a list of classes and their Servants we know so far:

Assassin: some sexy lady who dislikes arrogant people (I haven’t even talked about her in this, or her lunatic mage of a master…)

Fate apocrypha and fate zero were my faves. I watched the 55 min special and i am heavily invested now.

I gotta say my favorite so far has been apocrypha just because of all the different servants and i felt like the fight scenes were extremely well animated the heavens feel trilogy was dope too tho and so was camelot idk it is hard to pick none of them are what i would call bad i picked apocrypha mainly because karna is my favorite servant
