I have to imagine that no matter how much you prefer the original anime, you gotta admit this scene improved upon it on every possible way. From "are you really gonna shoot me again!?" to this summing up of the fundamental problem Vash has; he flinches away from killing Knives, turning the beam off at the last second and leaving some energy in the cube. So when he hits the ground, the city is destroyed. In trying to save everybody, he failed to save anybody.

This entire scene, so much emotional complexity between brothers who've been at war for over a 100 years with two completely justifiable causes…..a losing battle on both ends. Million knives , even with such few scenes, has left a lasting effect on the way the rest of this series plays out….Can't wait.

I love how it's Knives' theme from episode 3 but more "triumphant" and "heroic" yet still feels tragic and "final"
Both of them were hero in their own merits. From the symbolism we can see that White Knight tried to save his people from Never Ending Slavery and The Dark Knight tried to believe in Humanity. Such a painful for both brothers

I really love how Vash turned 'The Stampede' from an insult into his own meaning of the nickname, how instead of symbolizing destruction to him it symbolizes running away but always coming back…

I put this OST over Ai's death and when 4:27 synced up to her saying "I love you", it shook me to the core. And I'm not the kind of guy that expresses emotions when somebody from a series I watch dies, but that was possibly the most emotional I felt in a while.
I wasn't ready for the emotions, i think nobody was.🥲😭
We've come from OG where you never even felt a glimps of understanding his brother Nai true motives, to a marvelous priquel of remake where you realy feel that Nai was just as same as Vash all along. He was more real and grounded in his believes, he knew that it's either them surviving or humans, no other way around it. Humans won't survive on this planet without using them as resource, and that's his absolute true. Vash fighting for Humans in the end mean that he is betraying his own kind. You can totally understand Nai in this remake. He just wants a paradise for them, without being a slaves to Humankind.
But the irony is.. humans were never meant to be on this planet, Nai did the crashing of entire fleet over 200 years ago. So now Humankind can only rely on reactor plants due to harsh environment of a planet.
I still wonder what happened in episode 12.. did Vash moved entire planet to the SOL system? Can't wait for the season 2.

glad to know I wasn’t the only one holding my breath during that whole entanglement. My heart shattered when he screamed Nai and I started crying I didn’t even notice I wasn’t breathing haha I was so engrossed. Johnny Young Bosch serves us again another brutally raw vocal masterpiece. Watching Nai disintegrate about killed me though and for that moment I finally understood his character and damn i didn’t see that coming. Bravo my dudes. Bravo.
