Hello from Helsinki! we are participating in the #Helsinkidesignweek press tour now.
We visited Finnish culinary icon and design landmark, Savoy. The restaurant was designed by Aino and Alvar Aalto in 1937. Rich in various species of wood, decorative textiles and lush planting, the interior captured the warm functionality that the Aaltos later on became known for.
Savoy will be renewed by Ilse Crawford and her design studio Studioilse in January 2020. Changes and renovations have impacted the Aalto design . The Aim of upcoming renovation is to retain the original charm and beauty of the restaurant.

#ヘルシンキデザインウィーク の取材でフィンランドへ🇫🇮 こちらは1937年にアアルト夫妻がデザインを手がけ、いまなお当時の姿が引き継がれているヘルシンキのレストラン「サヴォイ」。アアルトデザインを体感できるデザインランドマークとしても知られており、訪れたことがある人も多いのでは。

今年5月に新たなシェフが就任し、フィンランドの食材にフレンチとロシア料理エッセンスを加えた新しいメニューに。さらに、来年1月にはイルサ・クロフォードによって空間のリノベーションも予定されており、アアルトのデザイン精神をしっかりと受け継ぎながらも、新たな空間へ生まれ変わるそう。
