As a fan of neither of neither player, yelling “come on” between serves = beyond disrespectful & should be considered (a) hinderance; &/or (b) unsportsmanlike conduct.
Yelling come on (or other celebrations, including over the top ones) are PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE, but only between points. You CANNOT celebrate, especially loudly between 1st & 2nd serves.
If a player’s mumbling to themselves between serves that’s a different story than yelling.
Not a fan of either player, but the chair umpire is wrong.
Point must start within 25 seconds of previous point. If first serve is missed, second serve must be hit immediately (unless reason for delay, like something fell on the court). The 25 second clock doesn’t restart between serves & if the server takes too long they’re penalized.
That means, as is the logical answer, the point starts when the server hits their 1st serve & ends when either (a) the server double faults; or (b) the point ends through an error or winner.
So yes, this is absolutely “during the point” & should be called as hindrance.
They didn't let that last part play out when Naomi sarcastically and humorously said her opponent was (Mad) or angry that she lost! Because the other player showed bad sportsmanship (sports-womanship) …lol
Might start watching Tennis essentially for Naomi Osaka now, hilarious how everyone is mad at her for bringing a little life to the court😂
All this talk about enforcing "etiquette" goes out the window with that handshake incident. Policing Naomi Osaka and debating her "hindrance" on the court, as if it justifies Cirstea's bad behavior somehow? If you want to be the moral police, start with your own.
