The lauded British actress best known for her roles in “Harry Potter” and “Downton Abbey” has died, according to a statement from her sons to the Press Association.

When I first heard of Dame Maggie Smith death, it was on YouTube. I thought it was fake news because there is always these videos where they announce that this actor/actress had died and it wasn't true so, I had to Google her name to see if she really had died.

when i first hopped on twitter and seen maggie smith trending my heart sank. i hoped it wasn't news that i think it was. unfortunately it was true…i went through a bit of a denial phase. and anger phase because i thought this was a sick joke…and then the acceptance phase sank in
