映画『ゴジラ-1.0』のVFXにフォーカスしたメイキング映像が公開されました。日本映画として初めて米アカデミー賞の視覚効果賞にノミネートされた映像を生み出した、制作プロダクション・白組による制作過程が明らかになりました。ちなみにナレーションは山崎監督！

　メイキングは白組が制作、監督・脚本・VFXを手掛けた山崎貴監督がナレーションを担当。戦艦シーンの数々が小さな船縁のセットだけで撮影また震電や船の揺れがカメラワークと人力で再現されていたりと、限られた予算のなか、最新のデジタル技術と古典的な手法を組み合わせることで、ハリウッドでも絶賛されている映像が生み出されていました。
The making of the film was produced by Shirogumi, and director Takashi Yamazaki, who handled the direction, script, and VFX, was in charge of the narration. Many of the battleship scenes were filmed using only small ship-side sets, and the shaking of the fighter planes and ships was recreated using camera work and human power.Within a limited budget, the latest digital technology and classic methods were used. 『ゴジラ-1.0』のVFXに関わった人数は総勢35名、期間は8か月。ごく限られた人数と期間で生み出された驚異の映像。デジタルとアナログが融合したその映像について、山崎監督は「そこには手作りの温かさが自然と備わっていたのでは」とナレーション内で語っています。
　昨年11月3日に日本公開された本作は、今年2月12日までの公開102日間で観客動員381万人、興行収入58億5,000万円を突破。また、現地時間2月1日までの63日間で上映が終了した北米では、最終興収5,600万ドル（約80億円・1ドル145円計算）を突破し、外国語の実写映画の歴代興収の中でも3位という記録。
　『ゴジラ-1.0』が視覚効果賞にノミネートされている第96回アカデミー賞の授賞式は、現地時間3月10日に開催される予定で、山崎監督と白組スタッフが参加予定。同部門で日本映画・アジア映画が受賞した実績はなく、史上初の快挙にも期待です。
