This is @calm.otter, a close friend of mine currently in Japan on a work visa while her mother and brother are in Mariupol, Ukraine where communication is virtually down in the city with very little capability to connect with the outside world. She has been unable to reach her family for the past two days only able to read bits and pieces of what is actually happening in her home town through news outlets. With no power, water or sanitation system, having been bombed and shelled for 5 continuous days, not being able to move, or knowing when the food supply will end, she is worried sick for her loved ones. She just wants them to know that she loves them dearly and how proud she is of her mother and brother for staying in the city to protect the place they always called home “Mama, bro…hold on”.
