三浦しをんさんの小説が原作のテレビアニメ「舟を編む」の1～5話のダイジェスト映像。
「舟を編む」は、2012年の本屋大賞第1位に輝き、13年に松田龍平さん主演で映画化された人気小説。玄武書房営業部員で口下手な馬締光也（まじめ・みつや）は、辞書編集部員で一見チャラ男の西岡正志と偶然、街中で出会う。中型国語辞典「大渡海」の刊行計画が進む中、同社のベテラン編集者・荒木公平は定年が近付き、後継者探しに躍起になっていた。そんな中、西岡から馬締の話を聞き、スカウトすることになる。
大学院で言語学を専攻し、家を蔵書で埋め尽くすほどの本好きの馬締は、西岡との出会いをきっかけに、言語に対する能力を開花させていく。馬締をはじめ「大渡海」を編集するメンバーが“言葉の海を渡る舟”である辞書作りに没頭していく熱いドラマが描かれる。
櫻井さんが馬締、神谷さんが西岡を演じるほか、坂本真綾さんや金尾哲夫さん、榊原良子さん、 日笠陽子さんらも出演している。
