The Mifune Festival,
which is held as an extension of the Kurumazaki Shrine annual festival, was started in 1928 to commemorate the Imperial Enthronement, and recreates boating activities from the Heian period when the deity, Kiyohara Yorinari, was active. A variety of traditional performing arts are shown on boats, including the Mifuneza, Ryutosen, and Eel-shaped boats.
