Thirty-two-year-old Shogo Akiyama took batting practice on Sunday (21 February) as part of his preparations for the 2021 MLB season.

The Japanese outfielder batted leadoff for the Cincinnati Reds last year and looks to improve upon his initial campaign in America. In 155 at bats, Akiyama batted .245 with nine RBI and no home runs but he stole seven bases and compiled a .654 OPS. He shined in the field, where he was nominated for a Golden Glove for his defense.
