Ahem, anyway… Exactly one year ago, I uploaded my English cover/lyric translation for Discommunication Alien after being inspired by Usada Pekora’s cover of the song. I couldn’t find any English versions that actually synced up the syllables so I decided to try my hand at it. That was the case for Haro Haro Nariyansu Ondo as well. I really enjoyed Korone’s cover and since it’s from a really obscure and old game of course no one had an English vocal cover.
In fact, I couldn’t even find an English translation and when I found the original version of the song, I realized that most people had dropped the second verse which was considerably harder to translate (or maybe I just wasn’t used to it). That being said, I’m actually quite proud of my translation this time around. I think it’s more accurate though different versions of the JP lyrics use different kanji for some lines and because they’re homophones in a song, I have no idea with ones are the correct ones. Also, I’m not entirely sure what なりやんす actually means besides being some sort of verbal tick for delinquents. Other liberties I took in translation like changing 100 to 100,000,000 I’m okay with because it fits the syllable count better.
Unfortunately, I don’t think my singing ability has gotten any better and I’m still using the same integrated laptop mic… (^^;) Hey, Covid is still a thing and mics are expensive! Maybe I’ll splurge on a new set for next year’s translation, who knows?
