Would you shave your head to see a movie early? That’s exactly what dozens of die-hard fans did to attend a special early screening of Emma Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos’ latest collaboration, ‘Bugonia’, in Los Angeles.
In this surreal sci-fi satire, Stone plays a mysterious pharmaceutical CEO who gets kidnapped by conspiracy theorists who believe she’s an alien—and yes, they shave her head. So in a fittingly bizarre promo stunt, Focus Features allowed only bald attendees to enter an exclusive pre-release screening — and if you weren’t bald, barbers on-site would fix that.
From free buzz cuts to full-on fandom, moviegoers shared why they were willing to ditch their hair for the chance to see the film two weeks early. “I think I’m part committed at this point. It’s going to be great—Best Picture winner probably,” said Sam Sherman after his head was shaved.
‘Bugonia’ opens in U.S. theaters nationwide on October 31.
