BLACK SWAN Analysis. If The Black Swan was a better dancer, why would Leroy select Nina, the White Swan, to be Swan Queen. Exploring themes of repression and control in the film.

Director Darren Aronofsky’s 2010 psychological horror drama stars Natalie Portman as Nina Sayers, Vincent Cassel as Thomas Leroy, Mila Kunis as Lily, Barbara Hershey as Erica Sayers and Winona Ryder as Beth Macintyre. At the 2010 Academy Awards, Black Swan was nominated in 5 categories for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography. Natalie Portman won the award for Best Actress.
