最高の新しいセーラームーンストーリー!

Hey everybody, it’s just me, Jay, here today. Uh Jill is busy cuz she just got a new job. I wanted to start talking about Sailor Moon the superlive today because there’s a lot of really awesome news around it. But before I hop into that, really, really quick, we do have new stuff over on Cosmo Bunny.shop. Jill wanted me to mention that for you. Maybe you’re a fan of manga, anime, stuff like that. We make coasters, keychains, trays, and more over there. are one of a kind, made out of recycled paper, and resin from comic books, manga, magazines, and more that have been damaged. We have a limited time sale going on, so be sure to use code moon for 20% off your order right now. These are the lowest prices we’re probably going to see this year, I think, over there. So, check it out. But Sailor Moon: The Super Live is something that I almost had to be talked into going to. Not because I’m not a fan of Sailor Moon, but just because I’m not a fan of crowds. I’m not really a big fan of tight spaces. And where I had to see it at the Oreium Theater in Minnesota, uh the theater itself is beautiful, but really not designed for people like me. Like maybe I think the theater’s over 100 years old. I’m sure people were shorter back then. So if you were a small girl from Japan and maybe you were visiting Minnesota and saw that show, I’m sure the seats were perfectly fine. Uh, but for someone like me, it was a bit of a mess. But that said, the show itself is one of my favorite memories I have with my wife Jill. Going to see this show, going to see this recreation of the Sailor Moon world in liveaction and with these 2.5D elements. Like, they used a screen, they used beautiful effects, and I thought the cast in general just did a a fantastic job. Um, you know, really everybody did, but especially to me, the woman who played Sailor Moon, Rico Tanaka, she stood out as just stealing the show. She was wonderful. And so seeing the show for me was a big deal, but I never really knew if it would be hugely successful or not. I know that anime has gotten a lot more popular internationally over the last 10 to 15 years. Um, as someone who is 30 and grew up when liking anime meant you were a loser, that’s very weird to me, but it’s great to see and awesome. And recently, they have been gearing up to actually bring Sailor Moon the Super Live to Tokyo to do another limited show, you know, and actually show off both of the teams who did it. There was a discussion as well between both of the Sailor Moon actresses, which I thought was really cool, uh, which was chronicled by the Japan news website, which I will share a little bit of here. But in general, I just think it’s awesome that this was overall a success, at least as it has been reported by news outlets and by the companies that ran it. Several of the shows were sold out, especially in the United States. I know uh with like New York City and Washington DC, those sold out really really quick. Where I was, it was a pretty packed show. There were a couple seats here and there, but overall like it was packed. And that was in Minnesota. That’s in the Midwest if you’re not super familiar with that part of the United States of America. And it’s not a massive state. It’s not one of the smallest, but certainly not one of the biggest. Our biggest claim to fame really is probably just that we have um half of our state is trees and we have the Mall of America. So it’s not exactly New York City. And even here it was selling out. Something that we talked about in a previous video that I think is awesome. Now it also does kind of follow a trend of these liveaction shows gaining popularity, especially with Sailor Moon. There have been many Sailor Moon shows in Japan that have been popular, but there have not been many of them that have appealed to international audiences or in the case of Sailor Moon: The Super Live, been created to appeal to international audiences. And it wasn’t something that was just half-hearted. It wasn’t something that they didn’t try. It was something where they genuinely went out there. The girls gave it their all. The people who ran the show obviously gave it their all. It was wonderful. And so seeing them kind of gear up to come back and do a little bit more in Japan and show the Japanese audience what I guess international audiences saw. It’s a bit of a turn of the tables. If something originates in Japan, it’s almost always better in Japan. So to see them actually uh get a taste of their own medicine. No, I’m just kidding. to see them actually get to see the thing almost second like after international audiences is super bizarre to me from an outside perspective but I do think it’s kind of neat and goes to show how big Sailor Moon is in general now with this interview I thought it was just really fun and I will link it down below where you can actually read through both of the stars from the UK tour and the North American tour and I’m always bad at pronouncing her name, so I apologize. I believe it’s Yui Yokoyama and also Rico Tanaka. They were talking together about this and they were actually inspired by each other as well with the shows and with their performances. Now, right off the bat, they do kind of point out that Miss Yokoyama performed 43 shows in London and Miss Tanaka took part in a tour of 21 cities in North America. So this is a lot and Rico Tanaka answered this and talked about performing overseas for the first time saying the cultures are different from Japan so the cheers from the audience came when I didn’t expect them which surprised me in the first stage show and then went on to speak to Yokoyama saying I had a feeling that the way the cast and audience influenced each other made the shows more exciting don’t you think to which Miss Yokoyama replied I really felt like The audience joined in to make the shows with us. When they were asked, “Were you able to do any sightseeing?” Miss Tanaka talked about going to LA and other people visiting a theme park and things like that. And Miss Yokoyama talked about having a party in their rooms uh because the shows were being held in winter when many of the team members had birthdays. So, they had a bunch of birthday parties and got to hang out together, which was really, really fun. Now, what I think is really cool about this is that both girls are also fans of the source material, especially the show, uh, with Miss Yokoyama pointing out that she grew up watching the show in elementary school, and she was trembling with excitement and nerves when she got picked to actually be Sailor Moon with Miss Tanaka also saying that she enjoyed it since she was a child and she had dreamed of becoming a fighting girl, but had never imagined that she would actually be able to do so. In general, I think this is just a really fun read. I don’t want to steal the thunder of the entire thing. So, I do think that you should actually check this out, but I really just wanted to highlight it as well because they go on to talk about each other’s performances, praise each other, and what they did, and also talked about having to watch recorded scenes of each other, and trying to copy each other’s techniques so that the show was uh more uniform, but also unique depending on who played who in each show. And I think this is really honestly what I want to see out of Sailor Moon if they’re not going to do more with um the other mediums. Like for example, now you can obviously do live shows as well, but live shows have been one of the few places where we’ve gotten new stories for a long time or spins on classic stories. Sailor Moon, for whatever reason, has kind of left the video game space behind for a couple of decades. It’s unfortunate, but it’s true. We’ve talked about wanting a Sailor Moon game on this channel more than once, and I know a lot of you do, too. Sailor Moon in general has not expanded its story much since the wrap-up of the original manga series. With even things like Sailor V going un pretty much unadapted uh with anime and Sailor Moon Cosmos wrapping up, it kind of seems to signal the end of an era of new Sailor Moon stories unless it is either passed on from its original creator or she decides to go back and do more with it later. but also, you know, she has a family and had bad experiences with the manga space, so who knows, you know, if she will go on to actually make more or not in the future. But in general, I loved Sailor Moon the Super Live. I love that they also put it up for a limited time on YouTube for people to watch who couldn’t actually afford to go or it was too far away or anything like that. Just in general, this is the artistic side of Sailor Moon that I want to see going forward. the side that isn’t just reprints of the manga for the 50th time with a new dust jacket. The kind that isn’t just a new piece of merch thrown out there to make money, but the kind that is actual true artistry. I really loved seeing that and I hope to see more and I hope that the success of this leads not only to maybe a Blu-ray and DVD release of these two teams works because we do know they’re recorded. I mean, they were put on YouTube for a limited time, but also leads to more shows and more arcs adapted from Sailor Moon that they can do in a similar style. Let me know what you think in the comments down below. We always do love hearing from you. Uh hopefully next video Jill will be back again, but I wanted to wanted to help out here and talk about something I cared about. Discount code moon over on cosmobbunny.shop. We appreciate you so much. We would love to see you support the channel in that way and get something fun for yourselves, especially now we’re in October, we’re heading into the spooky season and then later on into the uh holiday season. So, lots of fun stuff over there. Hope you have a fantastic day and if you want to see more of Jill and I, we also do Degenerate Plays, our let’s play channel where we play through games together, have a fun time, and talk a lot. As always, everybody, wait, that’s my outro. I will say have a good day. Bye. [Music]

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live was a very successful show. Both the US and UK teams did a fantastic job and Sailor Moon shows were selling out at the box office for live performances. Wonderful, gorgeous and talented actresses Riko Tanaka and Yui Yokoyama both sat down together for an interview on playing Usagi Tsukino, what it was like learning from each other and how the cast of the Sailor Guardians became friends in real life! #sailormoon #sailormoonthesuperlive #anime
