Last week, the word came out that the Rey Star Wars movie is on hold. We NEED to have an honest conversation about what’s happening with Star Wars movies — because the latest news about the Rey Skywalker film is just exhausting at this point.
Last week, reliable scooper DanielRPK—who’s batting .750 when it comes to Star Wars leaks—dropped a bombshell: the highly-anticipated Rey movie, starring Daisy Ridley and set after The Rise of Skywalker, is reportedly on hold. Yes, the movie that was supposed to bring back Rey, rebuild the Jedi Order, and push the galaxy forward? Delayed. Again.
But it gets worse…
Daniel also reported that after The Mandalorian & Grogu movie hits theaters, Shawn Levy’s Starfighter and James Mangold’s Dawn of the Jedi are moving forward ahead of the Rey film. So where does that leave the future of Star Wars? In limbo. Again.
And right on cue? The “damage control” begins. Reports flood social media: “It’s not on hold—we’re just waiting for a script.”
Let’s be real: If you can’t shoot, can’t cast, can’t schedule—guess what? It’s ON HOLD. Hollywood word games don’t change reality.
This rant breaks down the frustrating cycle Star Wars fans know all too well:

✅ Massive hype
✅ Radio silence
✅ Quiet delays

This constant shuffle damages fan trust, feeds the worst parts of the fandom, and hands ammunition to those who claim Lucasfilm has no plan, the sequels failed, or no one wants Rey back. None of that’s true — but the inconsistency makes it feel true.
Meanwhile, Marvel, DC, and even the Monsterverse stumble—but at least projects get made.
It’s time for Lucasfilm to stop the cycle. Fans deserve better. The galaxy deserves better.
