French actress CAROLE BOUQUET, a long-standing face of Chanel, has launched the latest boutique in the fashion house’s empire – in Moscow.

The store is Chanel’s first in Russia, and confirmation that Muscovites are embracing high luxury.

Shoppers can buy Chanel’s haute couture in the same building as existing boutiques for Fendi, Gucci, and D&G, all controlled by the umbrella company Mercury.

The launch party tempted women dressed in Chanel for the evening, ready to discuss Bouquet’s dress and makeup, and look through the boutique’s selection of Chanel’s autumn winter collection 2000.

France’s groundbreaking Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel made her name with practical clothes for women, including the boxy collarless jacket and the “little black”. In 1923 became was the first to produce a perfume bearing a designer’s name – Chanel no 5.

After her death in 1971, her fashion house continued her vision – Karl Lagerfield picked up the reigns in 1983, re-interpreting her trademark styles in new fabrics each year.
