Marie Antoinette (CV: Aya Hirano), A woman who lived proudly in love during the turbulent French Revolution
—–
The film begins with a scene in which 14-year-old Marie Antoinette, who has come to France from neighboring Austria, meets her husband, Louis XVI. Antoinette was lonely at the foreign court, which was different from the life she had envisioned. One day, however, she has a fateful encounter with the Swedish Count Hans Axel von Fersen at a masked ball at the Paris Opera, and her vision changes completely.
Felsen, knowing that his love is unforgivable, pledges his love at the cost of his life, saying, “I must not come any closer to Lady Antoinette. Louis XVI offers her his all-encompassing love, saying, “You married me and gave birth to a princess and two princes, so how can I blame you for seeking happiness as a woman as well? Antoinette survives the turbulent revolutionary period as a French queen and a woman with two deep loves, as expressed in “Love, how cruel and beautiful it is. The last scene of the film, in which Antoinette is saying goodbye to Oscar and standing in the Palace of Versailles, shows her dignified way of life filled with “pride” and “unshakable confidence.
