A James Bond casting report reveals that producers are facing a creative dispute over the direction of the next 007 and Bond villain. Ever since Daniel Craig’s final portrayal of the iconic MI6 agent in 2021’s No Time to Die, the franchise’s producers have been conducting an exhaustive search for the next James Bond actor. However, that was more than three years ago and, other than an unconfirmed report claiming that Aaron Taylor-Johnson had been cast, there is still no clearer idea of who will be the next 007, and the next Bond villain.
Now, according to a report published by The Wall Street Journal, producers Barbara Broccoli and Gregg Wilson are facing a creative dispute over the direction of James Bond. Wilson has reportedly been more open to the idea of casting a person of color, a gay man, or a woman. While Broccoli has no objection to casting a nonwhite or gay actor, she remains adamant that Bond should be played by a British man. There’s also a creative dispute over the next Bond villain, as some suggest a billionaire autocrat character would be best, but Broccoli believes they’ve done that before.
