Kayokyoku
Kazuko Sugiyama is a voice actress who released several singles with anime soundtracks, and she only released one LP. This is a very strange album and I’m still dubious about the artistic direction.
The A side sounds like anime soundtrack with a lot of humour. The singer uses strange voice tones, changing on each track. You’ll probably be wondering whether it is done on purpose or the singer is just very bad.
If you’ve been brave enough to go through the A side, you’ll be even more surprised by the B side. There, Kazuko Sugiyama proves that she actually sings good. As soon as the track B1 starts, the mood changes to Kayokyoku with a serious vibe. In my opinion, the stand-out tracks are B1 (17:29), a melancholic ballad, and B4 (28:58), a groovy dancing song.
