中川絢音＜水中めがね∞＞『しき』
2021年12月の YDCコンペティション I で受賞し、フランス国立ダンスセンター滞在を経た中川の新作は死生観をテーマとし、受賞作『my choice, my body,』に連なるという。発想の源となったのは、「NF F NS NC」というラテン語の墓碑。「我かつて存在せず、そののち存在し、いまは存在せず、思い悩むことなし」という言葉は、どこからか訪れた生命が身体に宿り、やがてそこから去る、根源的な生と死のイメージを振付家に喚起した。稲の実りのイメージ、音楽家との協働による和楽器を取り入れた音楽、アジア的な発想の衣裳、そして日常の動作や腹部に重心を低く置く日本舞踊の動きが重なり、＜水中めがね∞＞の新境地を拓くだろう。

Nakagawa Ayane＜Suichu-megane∞＞ “SHIKI”

Following her award at YDC Competition I in 2021 and a residency at the French National Dance Center, Nakagawa’s latest work explores the theme of life and death, continuing the exploration from her award-winning piece “my choice, my body,”. The inspiration for this work comes from the Latin tomb inscription “NF F NS NC” — “I was not, I was, I am not, I care not” (also translated as “I did not exist, then I existed, now I no longer exist, and I worry not”). These words evoke in the choreographer a fundamental image of life and death, where life inhabits the body and eventually departs. The piece draws on imagery of rice ready for harvest, features music incorporating traditional Japanese instruments in collaboration with musicians, and uses costumes inspired by Asian aesthetics. Additionally, it integrates movements from Japanese dance, focusing on everyday gestures and a lowered center of gravity in the abdomen. This work will mark a new frontier for ＜Suichu-megane∞＞.
