【Pls look at the top comment first】In the past few decades, many hard/melodic rock bands and solo artists from Spain have left deep impressions on fans. In every past decade, there used to come out influential bands or artists from Spain. Hard/melodic rock from Spain is an indispensable part of the European rock n roll scene.

A great Spanish band should never be forgotten. In the glorious years, they created a miracle. This is one of the most classic melodic rock sounds of Madrid. No matter how the music world changed, making the classic melodic rock submerged in the past tough years, the epic works were finally alive since the resurgence of melodic rock.

As we know, hard/melodic rock bands from Spain record both Spainish and English albums. Tokio was a precious English-singing band in the glorious 1980s. The debut “Triangles” is always memorable for whoever loves the best tunes of melodic rock from Spain. No matter what language they perform, English or Spanish, the epic works by Spanish artists are popular and always worth hearing.

Formed in 1983 in Madrid, five boys of Tokio played together for fun, who enjoyed creating and performing like any young bands for a rock n roll dream. Tokio is the band name as well as a theme of their music work. “Tokio” means “Tokyo”. Among Tokio’s songs, Tokyo is indispensable. Their music lights up Tokyo city with passion and emotion. As a 1980s melodic rock icon, Tokio played an indispensable role in Spain.

Tokio’s debut “Triangles” was released in 1989 by Scobula Records. This is a precious English album, including ten songs. 1980s English-singing hard/melodic rock bands from Spain are not rare. When a Spanish band decided to create and record English songs, they really wanted to become an international band and want their songs heard by global fans.

As a keyboard-driven melodic rock band, Tokio’s music is bright and polished. Among 1980s hard/melodic rock acts from Spain, Tokio reminds me of Niagara and Hiroshima. They are all English-singing bands, perfectly combining hard rock with aor and featuring splendid keys in their works. So it’s never too late to enjoy an outstanding Spanish band with epic English album(s).

In their active years, this epic album “Triangles” made Tokio known and won popularity. This opened the most magnificent prelude to national heavy metal rock, serving as poster managers at one concert after another.

A vibrant love theme “Love Story In Tokio” opened this fantastic melodic rock journey as a major theme, filled with passion and nostalgic 1980s memories. The following track “We Want Peace” is a major single as a blessing for ears. The third track “Face To Face” continued lighting up the flaming passion with shining keys and layered harmonies. The three songs won a certain success among critics and audiences.

This mid-tempo and magic song “Don’t Leave” we are hearing now caught my ears when I first listened to it. “Do It”, “Tonight”, and “Give Me A Chance” carry pleasant moments with hooks one after another. “Bluesman” is a magnificent gem, featuring distinctive keyboard solos on the highlight. A hard rock masterpiece “Rock Is Light” triggers every heart to keep rocking. Finally, the opening theme “Triangles” arranged with the accompaniment of symphonic sounds pushes the album to a higher and profound level.

The band split up in 1991 due to the lack of necessary support from the label. In 2013, Tokio’s precious album “Triangles” was re-released by Madrid-based label Leyenda Records. In the reissue, there are five bonus tracks, which they recorded between 1986 and 1989 in Spanish. To make Spanish melodic rock spread, Tokio never forgets their native language in performance. As the second biggest language of hard/melodic rock, Spanish gems should never be forgotten.

In 2016, Tokio’s long-awaited second album “Pecados Capitales” (Deadly Sin) was released by The Fish Factory, a pure Spanish album. This is a brilliant melodic rock release with lovely tunes as the debut “Triangles”. Tokio came back and continued carrying beautiful melodic rock. Let great Spanish sounds be remembered by enjoying Tokio. Trust that their songs are always worth reviewing.
