As tensions continue to rise with the ongoing invasion of Ukraine by Russia,a sit-in was held on April 26 by groups such as the Hiroshima Congress Against A-and H-Bombs to mark 36 years since the Chernobyl disaster, and to appeal to the world that they cannot allow anyone else to fall victim to atomic bombs.

The sit-in was held in front of the Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims in Peace Memorial Park in the rain.
Approximately 60 people, including hibakusha, gathered at the sit-in organized by the Hiroshima Congress Against A-and H-Bombs.This sit-in is held every year on April 26 to mark the Chernobyl disaster, which occurred on April 26, 1986.

This year, they are not just protesting for a world free from nuclear power plant disasters,but also for an immediate end to the Russian invasion of Ukraine,emphasizing that nuclear facilities in Ukraine were also made targets in the invasion.

The fact that the Russian military is targeting and destroying nuclear facilities, and places like schools, train stations, and hospitals–it’s absolutely inhuman.

ロシアの侵攻で世界不安が高まる中、ウクライナのチェルノブイリ原発事故から３６年を迎えた４月２６日、広島県原水禁などが新たな核の被害者を出さないことを誓い、座り込みを行いました。

広島市中区の平和公園では雨の中、原爆慰霊碑を背景に、県原水禁の呼びかけに応じた被爆者や市民およそ６０人が座り込みに参加しました。座り込みは１９８６年４月２６日に起きたチェルノブイリ原発事故の発生日に合わせ、翌年から毎年行われています。今年は原発事故が繰り返されないよう訴えただけでなく、ウクライナ侵攻で原発を含めた核施設が標的となったことも強調し、ロシアの軍事侵攻の即時停止を求めました。
