【Meiji shrine】
is dedicated to the divine souls of Emperor Meiji and his consort Empress Shoken. This shrine was established in 1920. You can see many big trees there. About 100,000 trees were donated from all over Japan and from overseas.Meiji shrine is famous for places with spiritual energy
We call this torii, a gate leading to a shrine. A torii is built at the boundary between inside and outside of the shrine, and the inside of the torii is worshiped as a sacred area of the Japanese Shinto deities.
The second torii is the biggest in Japan among wooden torii. It was destroyed by lightning in 1966. Due to the cooperation of Taiwan, a large substitute tree was imported and this torii was rebuild.
