2014年5月25日、岩手県滝沢市の岩手産業文化センターで開催された握手会で、刃物を持った暴漢に襲われ、右手の指の裂傷と骨折、頭部の裂傷のけがを負う。この事件では川栄とスタッフ1名も負傷した。詳細については『AKB48握手会傷害事件』を参照。事件から36日後となる6月30日、事件後初めてAKB48劇場の公演開始前のMCに登場し公の場に姿を表した。

On May 25, 2014, at a handshake event held at the Iwate Industrial Culture Center in Takizawa, Iwate Prefecture, a gangster with a knife attacked her, causing injury to her right finger’s finger, a broken bone, and a head’s laceration.
