Romanian ambassador’s words after visit to Hiroshima Mayor:
“My understanding of the consequences of nuclear war are much better after visiting Hiroshima.”
The Romanian ambassador to Japan, whose country has accepted numerous Ukrainian refugees, visited Hiroshima City Hall on March 24 and strongly condemned Russia, who has implied the possible use of nuclear weapons.
Mr. Ovidiu Dranga, Ambassador of Romania to Japan since August 2021, met with Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui, and strongly condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine, saying “No one accepts this invasion,” and appealed for solidarity in working toward the realization of a cease fire.
Ambassador Dranga also said he believed that Russian President Vladimir Putin would have hesitated to threaten the use of nuclear weapons if he saw the devastation that befell Hiroshima.

Well, I think my understanding of the consequences of nuclear war are much better after visiting Hiroshima and the Memorial.
According to Ambassador Dranga, approximately 400,000 Ukrainian citizens have fled to Romania, and today, 150,000 of them are receiving support from sources such as the government and businesses.

ウクライナ支援のルーマニア大使がロシア非難 「核兵器を使った戦争が どんな結末もたらすか」
ウクライナから多くの避難民を受け入れているルーマニアの駐日大使が、３月２４日 広島市役所を訪れ、核兵器の使用をちらつかせるロシアの姿勢を強く非難しました。
広島市役所を訪れたのは 2021年８月に就任したルーマニアのオビディウ・ドランガ駐日特命全権大使です。
松井市長との面会でドランガ大使は、ロシアのウクライナ侵攻について、「だれも認めない」と強く非難し、停戦実現に向け、連帯して行動するよう訴えました。
また、ドランガ大使は「広島の惨状を見れば、核兵器の使用を脅しとして言及することもためらうのではないか」と述べました。

ドランガ大使によりますと、ルーマニアにはウクライナから市民などおよそ４０万人が避難し、今も１５万人が政府や企業などの支援を受けているということです。
