On April 10, a protest against the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the use of nuclear weapons was held by a citizen’s organization in front of the Atomic Bomb Dome.
Approximately 750 people, including Hiroshima citizens, joined the protest held in front of the iconic Atomic Bomb Dome in downtown Hiroshima City.
After a moment of silence for the victims of the invasion, protestors held up a large flag with an anti-war message while strongly appealing for peace in Ukraine.
Toshiyuki Mimaki, Director General of the Hiroshima Prefectural Confederation of A-bomb Sufferers Organizations strongly condemned Russia, saying “the horror of nuclear weapons, which the hibakusha of Hiroshima and Nagasaki have been so vocal about, have not yet reached the ears of politicians.”
A video of the protest, along with messages appealing for a ban on the use of nuclear weapons, was filmed by
Kakuwaka Hiroshima, a citizen’s organization working toward the realization of a world without nuclear weapons.
The video will be posted on social media with Russian and English subtitles.

War solves nothing and threatening the use of nuclear weapons is an unforgiveable offence.
If the invasion continues, then I will gather more voices to speak up in protest.

ロシアに対する抗議 原爆ドーム前で
ロシアに対する戦争反対と核兵器の使用禁止を訴えるため、市民団体らが、きょう原爆ドームで抗議デモを行いました。
広島市の原爆ドームで行われた抗議デモには、市民など、およそ７５０人が集まりました。
参加者は黙とうを行った後、戦争反対と書かれた旗を掲げウクライナの平和を強く訴えました。
県被団協の箕牧智之（みまきとしゆき）理事長が、「広島・長崎の被爆者が訴える核兵器の怖さがまだ届いていない」とロシアを強く非難する姿もみられました。
また、核兵器使用禁止を訴えるメッセージが撮影され、核兵器のない世界の実現を願う市民グループ・『カクワカ広島』がＳＮＳなどで、ロシア語や英語の字幕をつけて世界に発信する予定です。
