JAPAN\u3010Subtitles\u3011<\/p>\n<p>Awashima is a small inhabited island with a population of about 200, floating in the Seto Inland Sea off Takuma, Mitoyo City, Kagawa.<br \/>\nThe island is formed by three mountains: J\u014dnoyama, Ashimayama, and Shikiyasan.<br \/>\nThis is Mount J\u014dnoyama, rising 220 meters above sea level, offering a sweeping 360-degree panoramic view.<br \/>\nFrom here, you can see islands of the Seto Inland Sea such as Shishijima, Takamijima, and Sanagijima.<br \/>\nEven Manabeshima and Mushima in Okayama Prefecture come into view.<br \/>\nBeyond them lie the Sh\u014dnai Peninsula, Mount Shiudeyama, the Shikoku Mountains, and Sanuki Fuji.<br \/>\nFrom above, the contrast between the island and the surrounding sea becomes strikingly clear.<\/p>\n<p>The island\u2019s three mountains are connected by sandbars, forming a shape that resembles a giant propeller.<br \/>\nSettlements extend even across the sandbars, reflecting a way of life that has continued quietly for generations.<br \/>\nThe softly shimmering sea and winter-toned hillsides blend together, creating a landscape unique to Awashima.<\/p>\n<p>Awashima is also one of the venues of the Setouchi Triennale, held once every three years.<br \/>\nArtworks such as Missing Post Office are scattered across the island, resonating with its scenery and history.<br \/>\nThe island is also home to Japan\u2019s first maritime training school, founded in 1897.Today, the former school remains as the Awashima Maritime Memorial Museum, currently undergoing restoration.<\/p>\n<p>Gentle waves
