During the turbulent Genpei War at the end of the Heian period, my ancestors served as &#8220;Shokan&#8221; (manor administrators) of this estate. [01:44]<br \/>\nConnections to Minamoto no Yoshitomo and Yoshitsune<br \/>\nMy ancestors were retainers of Minamoto no Yoshitomo. After the Heiji Rebellion, where Yoshitomo was defeated by Taira no Kiyomori, our ancestor\u2019s life was spared. He later accompanied the young Ushiwakamaru (who would become the legendary hero Minamoto no Yoshitsune) to Mount Kurama.
