Traveling from Takamatsu through Kochi City, Susaki, and Shimanto, I\u2019ve finally reached Tosa-shimizu, the southernmost municipality in Shikoku.<\/p>\n<p>With a population of around 10,000, this is one of Japan&#8217;s &#8220;marginal municipalities,&#8221; where over 50% of the residents are aged 65 or older. The shopping arcades and dining areas were incredibly quiet after dark, reflecting the deep stillness of a town facing depopulation.<\/p>\n<p>In the midst of the quiet streets, I was lucky enough to find a local public bath (Sento) that was still open late. It was a wonderful, relaxing soak that warmed me to the core. There&#8217;s something deeply comforting about the glow of a Sento in a silent town.
