The nearby Iwaya Kannon is a historic sacred site with origins linked to ancient mountain worship and Buddhist practice. According to local tradition, the site was established when Buddhist figures such as Nyoirin Kannon, Juichimen Kannon, and Sh\u014d Kannon were enshrined beneath massive rock formations, creating a natural spiritual setting that later developed into a place of devotion.<\/p>\n<p>One of the unique features of the site is the \u201ctainai meguri\u201d (\u80ce\u5185\u304f\u3050\u308a) \u2014 a rock cave passage that visitors historically passed through as a form of spiritual purification. In this tradition, passing through the narrow rock cavity was believed to symbolize cleansing or rebirth, similar to other mountain cave ritual practices found in Japan.
