Sakunami Onsen, Sendai City , Miyagi Prefecture This time, we will introduce Oedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Sendai Sakunami (hereinafter referred to as Premium Sendai Sakunami) in Sakunami Onsen, Miyagi Prefecture. Sakunami Onsen is relatively close to downtown Sendai, about 40 minutes by car, and is a hot spring town that was once called the inner sanctum of Sendai . It is a historic hot spring that opened in 1796 (Kansei 8) during the Edo period. Iwamatsu Ryokan, a long-established hotel with a history dating back to the opening of Sakunami Onsen, was rebranded by the Oedo Onsen Monogatari Group and grand opened in April 2025 with the name of Premium. In this video, we will give a full review of the premium Sendai Sakunami, including an overview of the building, rooms, baths, and luxurious buffet meals. This video is full of highlights, so please watch until the end. History and OverviewOedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Sendai Sakunami is located in the heart of Sakunami Onsen, which has long been known as the inner sanctum of Sendai , along the upper reaches of the Hirose River that runs through the center of Sendai City . Its predecessor was Iwamatsu Ryokan, a long-established inn with over 200 years of history. In April 2025, Oedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Sendai Sakunami was born as a hotel under the &#8220;Premium&#8221; brand of Oedo Onsen Monogatari Hotels &#038; Resorts, which operates over 30 hotels and inns nationwide. The concept of &#8220;Premium&#8221; is a Japanese-modern hot spring inn where you can relax in a quiet space. All guests can enjoy the hospitality of the Premium Lounge and a premium buffet, while maintaining the cost-performance of Oedo Onsen Monogatari. Premium Sendai Sakunami is currently a large hot spring hotel with 101 rooms, six floors above ground and one floor below ground. Access is good, about 25 minutes by car from Sendai Miyagi IC on the Tohoku Expressway, and about 5 minutes by shuttle bus from JR Sakunami Station . It&#8217;s a convenient lounge that you can use almost throughout your stay, from 10pm until 10am and 7am until 10am. I received a yukata and a toothbrush and headed to my room ^^ Room Review 6F The decorations and wall coverings of the floor corridor are also new. Room 615, Superior Japanese-Western Room The washbasin, toilet, and bathroom are on the right, and the room is on the left . Down the stairs from the second basement floor, there is the historic rock bath and indoor bath (Kouka-no-yu). Please note that the baths on the second basement floor are switched between men and women , and women can only use them on the check-in day and men on the check-out day. Sodium calcium chloride sulfate spring with a pH of 8.2-8.3 . The spring temperature is around 57 degrees. Surprisingly, all three of the natural rock baths are artesian springs from separate sources. There are many &#8220;Senjafuda&#8221; (paper charms used by a thousand shrines) attached to the bath. I was impressed that the scenery of Iwamatsu Ryokan was still there . There are 88 steps to the rock bath. The stairs and surroundings are made of wood, and the atmosphere is excellent, but there is no elevator, so please be careful if you have difficulty walking. There was a space like a rest area. You can look down on the Hirose River from above. Along the way, there is Koka no Yu. Koka no Yu is switched between men and women at certain times (same as the rock bath). Koka no Yu Undressing Space It is a small undressing space . There is a washbasin. There are also cosmetics and a hair dryer. Isn&#8217;t Koka no Yu wonderful? I&#8217;m really happy that this bath was still there. The overall wooden atmosphere, the view from the window, the view outside reflected on the surface of the bath, everything is impressive. This time we chose the basic plan, and the cost of a Superior Japanese-Western Room was 16,740 yen (per person per night) for one adult.
