It is said to have begun in 1182 when a statue of a demon holding a golden club was dedicated to ward off evil spirits. Shrines that worship demons are rare, with only four in the entire country. The chant for bean throwing on Setsubun is &#8220;Good fortune in, demons in, devils out.&#8221; At the Setsubun Festival, both the red and blue demons throw beans. As the saying goes, &#8220;A golden club for a demon,&#8221; there is a golden club leaning against the grounds. I was invited by the chief priest to pray inside the shrine. He said we were free to take photos and videos. It was a very valuable experience A goshuin stamp with pictures of blue and red demons, and a golden club inside the character for demon. On my way out, I was given a picture frame to display my votive plaques, sacred amulets, and temple seals as a souvenir. I felt sorry and said I would pay the first offering, but they said they were giving it to everyone.
