After a long period of excavation and drainage, the lake finally dried up.<br \/>\nSeveral spring-fed ponds remain, fed by the underground waters of Mount Fuji.<\/p>\n<p>The most representative of these spring-fed ponds is the Oshino Hakkai (Eight Lakes).<br \/>\nMeltwater from Mount Fuji is filtered through impermeable lava rocks underground for decades, resulting in crystal clear water.<br \/>\nOshino Hakkai was designated a National Natural Monument in 1934 based on its shape, water quality, water volume, conservation status, landscape, and Buddhist beliefs (Fuji worship). In 1985, the Environment Agency selected it as one of Japan&#8217;s 100 Famous Waters.<br \/>\nIn 1993, it was also designated as one of the prefecture&#8217;s 100 most scenic views of Mount Fuji.<\/p>\n<p>-Hanumanoki Forest Museum<\/p>\n<p>Hanumanoki Forest Museum is a museum open to the public, housed in the Watanabe family home, the oldest remaining thatched-roof house in Oshino Village, built in the late 18th century.<br \/>\nThe museum displays original furniture and household items, a silkworm farm, Tokugawa-era weapons, and important documents.<\/p>\n<p>Opening Hours: 9:00 AM &#8211;
