Among the islands accessible from there are Shika and Iki. Shikanoshima, a part of Fukuoka City, is only half an hour away, and Ikishima, part of Nagasaki, can be reached by ferry in under an hour. In its brief passage, the boat voyage transports the traveler to a realm far from the metropolis, where a distinct culture flourishes.
