Prepping with POPEYE magazine. At this time of year, “KYOTOGRAPHIE – Kyoto International Photography Festival” is held all over Kyoto. Appreciating the exhibits is one of our travel goals—starting with a mural installation. First, we drop off our luggage at the hotel chain we’ll be staying at tonight. Hello. We’ve arrived in Kyoto. From Kyoto Station, we take a train and then a bus, heading north to Rurikoin Temple. Since it’s fresh greenery season in the mountains, we’re hoping to enjoy the scenery. We’re around here now, coming from Kyoto Station. Rurikoin Temple is around here? Maybe? and then Sanzen-in Temple. From here, we take a bus. Unlike the uncrowded train, the bus is packed with tourists. 700m to Rurikoin Temple. There’s a cable car that goes all the way to Enryakuji Temple. We’re not taking it this time, but it’s intriguing. We walk along a path thick with fresh green maple leaves. The weather is lovely. Wow, this path is so beautiful. On the second floor of the study hall, the iconic view reflecting off the desk awaits. The bag given at the entrance contains a sutra-copying set. Since we have it, we’ll give it a try. Believe it or not, I was a calligraphy scholarship student. My first time doing sutra copying. Haven’t written anything by hand in a while. Sutra copying calms the mind—a peaceful moment amidst a busy trip. Heading to the first floor. The floor beneath the study hall from earlier—offering a different, but still beautiful, view. From the first floor, the moss is also stunning. We receive a temple stamp (Goshuin) here. This sukiya-style building—taking time to appreciate the other rooms as well. Mr. bearded gets a drink we’ve never seen before. So far, just water… Apparently, matcha powder falls in when he opened the cap. Tastes like real matcha when I drank it. Maybe a Kyoto exclusive? And now, once again… Back at Yase Station. We board a bus to head to Ohara. Realized I forgot my cap here. I lost my hat. Must’ve dropped it somewhere… Even the Rurikoin staff helped us search, but no luck… I gave up. From Yase Station to Ohara takes about 10 minutes by bus. The buses run infrequently out here, so we check the return schedule. 10 minutes from here. We were getting hungry, so we took a little detour. Lunch had just sold out. We missed it by just a bit. So we went with dessert instead. The interior has been renovated, but the building itself is still old. There are a lot of places like this in Kyoto—so nice. From the counter seats, we could see a field of rapeseed flowers and the satoyama landscape of Ohara. I got the gâteau au chocolat. And he got a yuzu citron cake. A café where you can relax and gaze out the window. Next time, I definitely want to try their lunch. Back to the temple path. Lured by a sign, we took another little detour. We found a spot with a panoramic view of the Ohara village. We had a clear view of the mountains surrounding Ohara. Found Shibakyu, famous for its shibazuke pickles. We were given samples. They were really delicious. Everything was so good that I couldn’t help asking for more samples. The chopped one is really nice, isn’t it? They were so tasty I ended up buying green shiba and daikon shibazuke. Finally, we reached the entrance to Sanzenin Temple. It took us an hour to get there, even though it only takes 10 minutes… Where are we now? Would it be hard to go through all of this? No, I don’t think so. Viewing the garden from the guest hall’s study. The garden viewed from the main hall towards the Gokuraku-in (Hall of Supreme Bliss). The cedar and cypress trees are magnificent. It was so quiet and peaceful—I really liked it. Now heading outside to explore the grounds. The hall enshrining the National Treasure of the Amida Triad statues. Heading to get a temple stamp (goshuin). Got some tea along the way. It was shiso (perilla) tea. Delicious. Aren’t you glad you came here? It’s so quiet. A Tokyo person awkwardly responding to a sociable Kyoto local… haha. Found the place for the goshuin stamp. Later realized this is the special goshuin of the Konjiki Fudoson. A special one. Since Konjiki means golden, I chose the one with gold lettering. Sanzen-in’s grounds are spacious. We’re going further in. Little stones stacked by someone… So refreshing. One of those moments when I realize how much I love this season. Got another goshuin. The Amida statue that’s a National Treasure. By the way, I made the huge mistake of forgetting my goshuin book… so I’m collecting them all on paper. We’ve returned to the city. Time to check in. Picked up the luggage we left this morning and headed to our room. This system is so helpful. Here’s our room for tonight. Well, it’s compact. The bathroom is perfectly standard. Since the hotel has a public bath, we never used the shower. Kyoto Kawaramachi – Teramachi Kyogoku Shopping Street. We’ve come here to get dinner. Now, let’s see if we can get in. We got in without a problem… Two servings of sukiyaki with loin cuts. Here’s how it’s done. I wonder if I can do it right. Added onions and green onions. Added shirataki noodles and tofu as well. Half ignoring the rules, we threw in all the meat at once. Added sugar and soup stock. Moved the meat to the side. Added fu (wheat gluten cakes) and mitsuba greens—now it looks more authentic. All done! So big! What a treat. Tastes like happiness. Got more meat. Made the second round with the leftover vegetables and extra meat. The second round turned out richer in flavor. So delicious. Now taking a stroll through Shijo at night. A parfait from Yojiya. Didn’t realize they stayed open this late. People dancing to music coming from the store—so cute… Pontocho Alley is buzzing. Shijo Bridge. First time seeing the Kamo River at night. The vermilion gate glowing beautifully in the night. We walked all this way, so might as well go all the way to the gate. From inside, the path sparkles. Now we’ll take a narrow path back to the hotel. To be continued in Day 2.

チャンネル登録、高評価をぜひお願いします👍🏻コメントもお待ちしてます。
https://www.youtube.com/@Yukie_N
ㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡ
00:00 Preview
00:12 京都駅へ/KYOTO GRAPHIE

[Other Videos]
<iframe loading="lazy" title="春の江ノ島Vlog｜海を見下ろす絶景で生しらすを食べる／最近のカメラアプデはヨセミテストラップ／髪切って春モードへ" width="770" height="433" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/U1aZW0I-dUA?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer;
