Dango (rice dumpling) Great Buddha Starting off our Nara trip with a splash! It’s 9:03 AM. There’s a good reason we came early. Oh, Nakatanidou! It’s famous! I wonder if we can buy something here? They’re not pounding the mochi yet? Can I buy just one? Okay, two please! 400 yen. Thank you very much! I want to take a photo. Taking a photo! Itadakimasu! (Let’s eat!) x3 I’ll go first! So soft, freshly made! Mmm, so good! Whoa, there’s already deer around! A hand-washing spot! Look! Deer, deer, deer! Their butts are so cute. Let’s get some deer crackers too! By the way, about the deer crackers— The white paper they’re wrapped in is safe even if the deer eat it. They sell them in packs of 10 and so on. I thought only the official ones were available. But apparently, some people unofficially sell deer crackers too. If it’s unofficial, the wrapping paper has no writing. So be careful! Aww, so cute. Wait! I’ll bring you some deer crackers! Three, please. Hold on a second. Eh?! Eh?! Eh?! Wait wait wait, ouch ouch ouch… nooooo! They ate it all. They ate everything!! They bit my hand and ate it all! Buy your own! Not bad though, haha. I looked up “deer-faced guy”… And only handsome guys popped up. Like Hiroshi Tamaki from Nodame Cantabile. (He’s a famous Japanese actor) Respect the deer, okay? Oh no, oh no, oh no. In my bag… I’m hiding 10 more crackers. Maybe they smell them? Tiny fawn! So small! So cute! Here you go! They can’t eat it all at once. By the way, how much do you think a deer eats in a day? Besides deer crackers. Zero! They only eat crackers! Nope, they eat grass and acorns too. About 1.5 to 2 kilograms a day. Even without crackers, they survive. Right! But they prefer crackers, of course. It’s like a treat for them. There are a lot of tours. Maybe that’s why it’s so crowded? Wow, looks delicious. Let’s get some. Two, please. I love how handmade these look, so rustic. Amazing! The uneven shapes are charming—handmade feel! Muscat muscat muscat, la-la lariat ♪ When eating, please shhh! Delicious! So impressive. As you can see, there are almost no Japanese people here. Feels like we’re traveling abroad even though we’re in Japan. About 90% of the people here are foreigners. It gets crazy during holidays! Buying tickets for Todaiji Temple. Just two adults for the Great Buddha. Very popular spot! Guided tours are great too. Surprisingly not crowded here. Incense offerings are voluntary. Wow, such beautiful grass! Or is it turf? Let’s wash our hands. The cold water feels so refreshing. Heading towards the Great Buddha! Whoa whoa whoa whoa! How heavy do you think the Great Buddha is? Huh?? Its weight? One ton? One ton is 1,000 kilograms! The correct answer? I don’t know! (LOL) Where do we stick the incense? Ah, no open spots left. Even if we light it, there’s nowhere to place it. No space at all. Everyone’s placed theirs. Maybe here? Okay, done! The Great Buddha of Nara weighs 250 tons! 250 tons!? That’s so heavy! How did they make it back then? Just the mouth is 1.3 meters tall! Todaiji was amazing! Now the time is… It’s just 11:30 AM! Soon it’ll be lunchtime. It’s going to be too crowded to eat inside restaurants. Probably impossible now. Found a great spot though! Tempura is heavy! Let’s eat! I’d love to work somewhere like this. I kinda get it. Eh? The cold soba noodles are amazing! Soba’s delicious. So refreshing and tasty! But the udon’s great too. It’s past noon now. Those people lining up over there are buying deer crackers! Supply and demand break down after 11 AM. It gets crazy. You should aim to get here by 10 AM. Enjoy the deer crackers early, then visit Kasuga Taisha Shrine. Otherwise, it’ll get super crowded. Birdsong and tranquility turn into chaos. Big tour groups arrive and it’s loud. The deer were sleeping earlier. Some kids were force-feeding them crackers. They were so lively in the morning. Now they’re all napping. Around lunchtime, Nakatanidou had two security guards because of the crowds. One giant strawberry daifuku, please! Here you go! 300 yen, thanks! The strawberry flavor is super strong. Feels like I’m just eating a strawberry, not a daifuku. How was today’s video? Next time, we’ll finally head to Taiwan! If you enjoyed today’s video, please give it a thumbs up! See you next time!

Ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch, noooo!
