In the Youkaichi and Gokoku districts, handmade lanterns adorned with moon-themed tanka poems illuminate the eaves of houses, enveloping the town in a dreamlike atmosphere. I was unaware of this festival’s existence 😅, but fortunately, I was able to visit Uchiko at this time and thoroughly enjoy the festive ambiance for two days. During the stay, I had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Yamazaki, the representative of Ikazaki Shachu, a company that produces and sells traditional Japanese washi paper made in Uchiko town and Omori Yarousoku shop that has produced wooden wax candles from edo period. I also visited “Asahi-kan,” a long-standing, old-fashioned movie theater in Uchiko town. Later, I learned about a local dish from Oda District in Uchiko town called “tarai udon” and took a rickshaw ride to have lunch. Before leaving Uchiko, I met an Australian traveler, Talei, who was staying at the same guesthouse, and we explored the Uchiko town area together. We also had a great time with the super active and kind owner of the coffee shop “Sarai”, Mrs Matsuda made my journey in the town very memorable! The journey then continued to the next destination, Matsuyama city.

Who am I?
🙋🏻‍♀️ I am sugoroku and now on a journey to travel to 47 prefectures in Japan by my trike 🛺 I would like my videos to be valuable to those interested in my country.
