There are many mountains named Komagatake all over Japan, but this mountain, which is also known as Ezo Komagatake, Hokkaido Komagatake, and Oshima Komagatake, looks like a horse’s neck when viewed from Onuma Quasi-National Park at the southern foot of the mountain, and the ridge that continues to the horse’s back on the right side shows a mountain shape that is worthy of the name.
Since it erupted lava and pyroclastic flows more than 30,000 years ago, it has erupted repeatedly and has become what it is today. At the summit, there is a crater floor with a diameter of about 2km, Saharadake to the north, and Kengamine to the west.
Within the crater floor, there is a 1929 crater (1929 crater) in the center, and there are several other craters. A fissure extending approximately 1.6 km across the crater floor was created by the 1942 eruption. In addition, a new fissure stretching approximately 200 m from north to south and 1 to 2 m wide was formed on the south side of the Showa 4-Nen crater during the March 1996 eruption. Some of these craters are currently experiencing weak fumarolic activity.

https://www.town.hokkaido-kamikawa.lg.jp/life/geo5a80000000l2i.html?cp=i8u8uo00000003w9&cs=cat3
https://www.iwanai-kanko.jp/tourism/maruyama/25.html
https://www.city.tomakomai.hokkaido.jp/kankojoho/kankoannai/tarumaezan/tarumaezannitsuite/midokoro.html
https://www.hbc.co.jp/monsuketv/article.html?id=12137
https://www.hbc.co.jp/monsuketv/article.html?id=8511
https://www.hbc.co.jp/monsuketv/article.html?id=11136
https://www.hbc.co.jp/monsuketv/article.html?id=3771
https://www.hbc.co.jp/monsuketv/article.html?id=8138
https://www.hbc.co.jp/monsuketv/article.html?id=4234
https://www.hbc.co.jp/monsuketv/article.html?id=3161
https://www.hbc.co.jp/monsuketv/article.html?id=3549

This channel mainly introduces aerial videos of Japanese mountains.
Some of the videos are mainly introduced on the websites of cities and towns in Hokkaido.
– Daisetsuzan (Kuro-dake, Aka-dake, Ohachi-daira): Kamikawa Town website
https://www.town.hokkaido-kamikawa.lg.jp/life/geo5a80000000l2i.html?cp=i8u8uo00000003w9&cs=cat3
– Iwanai-dake: Iwanai Town website
https://www.iwanai-kanko.jp/tourism/maruyama/25.html
– Tarumae-yama: Tomakomai City website
https://www.city.tomakomai.hokkaido.jp/kankojoho/kankoannai/tarumaezan/tarumaezannitsuite/midokoro.html
Some of the videos were broadcast on Hokkaido Broadcasting’s Hokkaido Drone Travelogue.
・Japan’s earliest autumn leaves are in full bloom again this year (Location: Tokachidake Onsen)
https://www.hbc.co.jp/monsuketv/article.html?id=8511
・Seasonal spectacular view – green and white “zebra pattern” of Mt.
