This time on Meshitabi Season 5 , we’re featuring 8 restaurants with the best value for money in the Obi area . ♬ So, let’s get started ! ♬ 1. Otofuke “Saboriya” Just from the name, you’d think this place would be a good fit, right? The retro atmosphere is very laid back and wonderful. ♬ It appears to have originally been a converted gas station . It’s been open for 15 years, and I didn’t know it was a place that’s constantly bustling with locals ! Of course I’d go! Thank goodness for shrimp soy sauce and shrimp ramen ! ♬ This is… a mysterious shrimp ramen! It has a shrimp flavor, but it also has a strong, animal-like richness… I was surprised! So they’re cooking a different soup! I thought so, and when I checked with the staff… it turns out we all use the same pork bone-based soup! And yes , it’s still got a real umami flavor! The soup has a rich flavor deep inside, and both ramen are delicious♬ A girl running the place alone?? Yes, that’s right, a young girl running the place all by herself … amazing‼ Being able to enjoy delicious ramen at this price is a blessing‼ And the noodles were delicious too♬ The noodles are from a local noodle shop in Obihiro called Hokari Noodle Shop, which has been in business for 111 years . I think this was my first time⁈ They’re thin and curly, and the springiness and smooth slurping are addictive♬ The rich pork bone broth is just my type of delicious♬ I’ll definitely be a regular‼ This is ramen I can’t resist‼ Woohoo♪ 2 Nishi 5-jo Minami 7 “Obihiro Sky Restaurant” Meshitabees, a lover of government office cafeterias, have visited government office cafeterias all over the country, and this time we came to Obihiro City Hall‼ And it’s called‼ “Sky Restaurant”‼ It’s a restaurant with a spectacular view of the city – and it ‘s not skyscraper, it’s skyscraper‼ Sky Restaurant. Who would name a restaurant with a great view “Sukka”? (lol) It’s nice… sunny days are the best! This was a pretty cool cafeteria for a government office ♪ The daily chicken tempura set meal wasn’t freshly fried, but the batter was crispy and delicious~ The pork bowl was cooked to order♪ As you’d expect from Obihiro, the pork bowl kingdom‼ That’s right‼ If they’d cooked it a little more over high heat it would have been perfect~ But, what a picky choice💦 But for this price, I have no complaints‼ Parking is free, too‼ Yes, yes, but apparently there’s a rule that elevator staff can only use it on the fourth floor or above ⁇ Oh, that would be a problem if you forget something‼ Ah, that’s a dangerous situation for me, the king of forgetfulness💦 You forget things too much‼ It’s genetic‼ Genetic‼ Well, it’s true that when your mom says she’s off, she’ll come back right away, right? About twice… that’s a speciality in our house. 3 Otofuke “Ryuzuki Sweetpia Garden” Are Sanpancho’s off-cuts that popular? Yes, they are! There are huge lines from the morning! They’re a specialty of Sweetpia Garden! The lines have been so long recently that it’s hard to even stand in line… Seriously… These are the off-cuts of Obihiro’s soul sweets, Sanpancho. They sell the irregular and unsold parts in a package, and they’re really popular! I get it! We love off-cuts, don’t we? ♬ Meshitabees! Yes, I aim for the off-cuts of apple pie, pizza, airplane seats, bathhouse wash areas, and Othello! Oh, this isn’t a mirror holder! It’s the off-cuts of Baumkuchen! This … this is also good , but I prefer the other version ♪ The video disappeared somewhere and I lost track 💦 Oh , oh … ​ ​ ​ ​ Oh, I’m sure I’ll be staying here for a while… I cried when Ugajin died, did n’t I? Oh, I cried when Lily died too! 💧 The pork bowl has a delicious sauce that’s not too sweet, and the meat is tender. It comes with a small side dish and miso soup for 750 yen! So cheap! The daily special is grilled fish, tamagoyaki (rolled egg ), macaroni salad, natto, kinpira (fried stew ), and even miso soup… for just 700 yen! This is amazing! Set meals like this are rare… I love this kind of thing! ♬ One of the cheapest pork bowls in Obihiro! And this daily special is healthy and delicious! ♬ If I worked nearby, I’d go there every day! Definitely! 5 New ♨ York Nishi 18-jo Minami 2 “Yayoi no Yu” Recently renovated. Yayoi no Yu has undergone a wonderful transformation! Hey, I’m surprised! I didn’t think it was that old … but it’s been renovated into a Finnish-style sauna … It was amazing!♨ It felt like I was on a tour of a super public bath in Kyushu !⁉ It had been transformed into a facility with everything you could ask for ! That’s right!♨ The outdoor bath was filled with sunbeds, including an Infinity Dirondack, and it really felt like I was in a super public bath in Kyushu!♨ And there were even watering hoses around the relaxation chairs !⁉ This might be the most cutting-edge in Hokkaido! ⁉ Yes , the upper level was a 95°C stadium sauna big enough to comfortably fit 20 people, with twin halvias and an auto-louver that activates every 12 minutes! ⁉ The huge monitor TV was super easy to see!👀 It’s the best when there’s a baseball game on air !♬ Wow… there was a regular TV in the women’s bath!⁉ That’s unfair! ⁉ It seems like they rotate the bathers weekly !⁉ Oh, is that so?⁉ Lucky! When you leave the sauna, there’s a huge stand-up shower in front of the cold bath , which is about 15-16 degrees Celsius. It can fit 5-6 people. The open-air reclining bath is just the right temperature for relaxation. It was amazing. Apparently, they renovated it after modeling over 50 popular saunas across the country . Oh, I knew it… The luxury of having an open-air bath with free-flowing natural hot spring water from a sodium chloride spring gushing from 1,600 meters underground is amazing! Let’s go… 6. “Today’s Pork Cutlet Curry” Nishi 17-jo Minami 3 “Kita no Katsu” Kita no Katsu. This time, when I passed by, I saw a sign that said ” Today’s 500-yen Pork Cutlet Curry”… ahhh! I couldn’t leave without trying it ! So, this is one of the cheapest in Japan. Amazing! And it tastes great! Last time, the dad was doing the fried shrimp alone… but maybe it’s the grandson this time? A young gal like this served it to me ♬ When you say that… it’s kind of obscene 💦 The curry sauce is a little sweet, with a nostalgic taste . Of course , I could have boosted the spiciness with my own chili pepper, but … it was delicious even without adding any spiciness ~ This ♬ It’s a miracle that it’s only 500 yen with freshly fried pork cutlet on top !! Ah!! On Tuesdays, the soba tempura bowl is 500 yen!! I’ll go there on Tuesdays!! I said that, but … But!! The prices have finally gone up from November … What?! In fact, it’s better to go up, right? Right!! The new price is… just 500 yen!! What?! 550 yen including tax!! That’s cheap!! What?! I mean, it was 500 yen including tax before?! I can’t believe it!! 7 Memuro “Ramen Genki” This is Ramen Genki, a restaurant that a viewer recommended to us . A popular restaurant in a residential area♬ They have a wide variety of ramen and set menus. They also have a Chinese ramen and ramen set from Obihiro Soul Food, which I glanced at out of the corner of my eye, but this time I went for the classic fried rice set for my first visit! It’s rare to find a ramen shop for 1,000 yen these days… Yeah… The ramen and fried rice are both small, but this was just right for me, so I was happy♬ And this ramen… The aroma of wheat was strong, with thin, curly noodles that are reminiscent of Asahikawa… Ah, that’s my favorite♬ The taste was so good, like, ” Is this Obihiro? ⁈ Not Asahikawa?” ♬ I had the soy sauce ramen this time, but all the locals are eating the thick, thick fried noodles! They also have Cantonese noodles… I’m curious about the thick, thick fried noodles too! Right! 8 Taisho Taisho Make-in Festival The Taisho Make-in Festival is a hot topic every year♬ That’s right! A famous event in Obiji’s Taisho Ward! Hehe, potatoes alone are fine fufufu I really want to eat this New Chitose Airport gourmet again on my next meal trip.
