Film By Chirpy Tokyo Trip Part 1
For 4K clarity, adjust the quality settings. Incheon Airport Terminal 1 The airport is insanely crowded because of the holiday. Meanwhile, our flight with Air Premia is pretty empty (lucky✨). Grab a quick bite. Board the plane to Tokyo. This 2-night, 3-day Tokyo trip is a bit special. I want to follow the footsteps of my favorite content. Anime: Demon Slayer Movie: Perfect Days Dramas: After Love and Grand Maison Tokyo Narita Airport Arrived at Narita Airport. There’s a rental car booth right in front of the arrivals area. They told me to go to bus stop 29. Perfect timing, there’s a shuttle! Tokyo in October, even hotter than Seoul. This time, the rental car is a Mazda CX-3. ETC Card: Japan’s electronic toll collection system
It’s my first time renting a car with an ETC card. Suddenly, a giant statue like a Dragon Ball energy attack 😳 Turns out it’s the Ushiku Daibutsu. Demon Slayer: The anime that took the top 1 and 2 spots in Japanese box office (as of Oct 2025)
Heading to Gyoda to see the rice paddy art. Gyoda is in Saitama Prefecture, near Tokyo. It takes about 1 hour 50 minutes from Narita Airport. Spotted a Lawson just as I got hungry. Chainsaw Man wafers! Bought them immediately. Yay! Got Aki 🫶 I just watched the recently released Reze arc… still feeling the aftereffects 🫨 Also grabbed the new Kinoko no Yama. The vanilla flavor was re-released due to popularity! Gyoda Tower in sight. The tower really stands out in this small town. Gyoda Tower Why does seeing the Demon Slayer logo make me so happy? As soon as I enter the building, there’s a poster for the recently released Infinity Castle movie. Adult tickets cost 400 yen. The rice paddy art must be viewed from the top floor. Along the way, Tanjiro gives a welcome message 🫶 There’s also a trailer for the Infinity Castle movie (Hakuji…) Rice paddy art uses rice fields as a huge canvas. By using different rice varieties, it creates pictures and text. The fast-moving figures on the screen are people. Hundreds of volunteers collaborate to create it together. It started in 1993 in Aomori Prefecture as “wouldn’t this be fun?” Now it has become an art form in Gyoda and other regions. Took the elevator to the top floor. Wow 😳 It’s more intricate and massive than I imagined; goosebumps instantly. Knowing hundreds of people’s efforts went into it is what makes it so moving. Gyoda’s rice paddy art covers about 2.8 hectares. In 2015, it was listed in the Guinness World Records as the largest rice paddy art. Surprised to see many elderly people taking pictures with Tanjiro. Has anime culture really taken root in all generations in Japan? The detail is just amazing. I love it—so much passion put into it! 👀 Tanjiro T-shirt Gyoda’s rice paddy art changes themes every year. It can usually be viewed from summer through fall. Now, off to Tokyo! Stopped by a rest area for a short break. Being close to Tokyo, the rest area feels really modern. Spotted some takoyaki! Ate them all in one go. Back on the road, heading to Tokyo. The non-art I just saw is still vivid in my mind. Watching Demon Slayer: Infinity Train, I was amazed by the technology. As technology improves, the expressions get more detailed. And emotions seem to come across even more deeply. Maybe that’s why this trip’s beginning feels especially lingering. It took about 1 hour 20 minutes to enter central Tokyo. Getting closer to the Skytree! First, heading to Asakusa, where our hotel is booked. Time to face the biggest downside of city car trips: battling the parking fees. At first glance, it looks like 2,500 yen for 24 hours, but that’s only for spot #1. Spots 2–4 are 300 yen per 15 minutes until 8 PM 😅 No wonder only spot #1 had a car… haha Parking until 8 AM tomorrow will probably cost around 4,000 yen (~38,000 KRW). Still, it’s one of the cheaper options. Hotel arrival! OMO3 Asakusa by Hoshino Resorts An OMO hotel under the Hoshino brand. They have OMO 1, 3, 5, and 7. This is #3, the basic type. The higher the number, the more facilities they have. Small, but the room has everything you need. Decent Skytree view ✨ Sensoji-view rooms were fully booked. But the 13th-floor lounge has a great viewpoint. Beautiful! Sensoji view ✨ Came to Asakusa Station to head to Akihabara. The underground shopping street at Asakusa Station is said to be the oldest existing underground mall in Japan. Spotted the standing soba & udon shop, “Monju.” Also saw a sign for an 800-yen barbershop. Under the old ceiling with exposed pipes, there’s also a DVD shop alley. The shop with the closed shutter in front appeared in the movie Perfect Days. From Asakusa Station, take the Ginza Line to Suehirocho Station (9 min ride). From exit 1 at Suehirocho Station, walk along the street and you’re on Akihabara’s main street. Akihabara is famous for anime, games, and figures. It’s a hub of otaku culture. All kinds of niche hobbies developed in Japan gather here! Akihabara Radio Kaikan Radio Kaikan used to be a mecca for electronics, but now it’s filled with stores catering to otaku. Demon Slayer corner! Zenitsu only has figures here. Acrylic blocks are left only for Rengoku and Genya 🫨 The currently hot Chainsaw Man ❤️🔥 “Rashinban” handles second-hand goods. Saw La Bu Bu too. Second-hand Chainsaw Man and Demon Slayer figures. Chainsaw Man’s Denji is so cute. Bought a Denji keyring for 330 yen! Most mini figures are sold out 😭 The Denji keyring was 330 yen on the 3rd floor, but 1,000 yen on the 2nd? Why is there such a price difference? Haha Found a Zenitsu mini figure I liked. 4,000 yen, so I hesitated a bit… But I wanted Zenitsu so badly that I ended up buying it ❤️🔥 The Lashinban at Radio Kaikan is quite small, so I’m heading over to the Lashinban New Building across the street. Lashinban Akihabara New Building This place is pretty expensive too 😳 I lost track of time exploring Akihabara. On the way back, I also stopped by Animate. Found a Chainsaw Man gacha! Spin, spin! Won the shark mine “Beam” 🤣 Gachas on the streets… truly a gacha paradise. Taking the Ginza Line back to Asakusa. Senso-ji Temple I arrived at Senso-ji in Asakusa. It’s one of the most famous tourist spots in Tokyo. It’s closed at night, but there are street food stalls and souvenir shops on both sides. Asakusa was the main setting of Demon Slayer: Asakusa Arc. Tanjiro came here on a Demon Slayer mission, and ended up facing Kibutsuji Muzan. It makes the travel spot feel even more memorable. I guess that’s why people do pilgrimage tours to these places. Senso-ji is said to be the largest temple in Tokyo. Even late at night, it’s crowded with foreign tourists. You can draw a fortune (omikuji) for just 100 yen. You can even see the illuminated Skytree! Leaving Senso-ji, I wandered through the streets of Asakusa. Hungry, I checked Google Maps. I headed to a Monjayaki specialty restaurant on the left side of the street. Monja Kato The second floor has this kind of vibe. They had a Korean menu, so ordering was easy. After ordering, a small appetizer (otoshi) came out. A refreshing tomato and onion salad. A delicious combination of umami onions and tomatoes. Monjayaki with plum, octopus, pork, and seaweed arrived. A very straightforward menu name 🤣 Whenever I come to Tokyo, I eat Monjayaki. It’s hard to find in Korea, so that’s probably why. The thick, unfamiliar batter always looks interesting. Monjayaki is a famous local dish in Tokyo. Looks delicious 🤤 Eat it with this cute mini spatula. Can’t forget the highball. Next dish: seafood garlic fried rice. They fry seafood, bean sprouts, and rice with butter on a hot plate. Everything was delicious since I was so hungry, but the Monjayaki with plum was especially unique. Don Quijote Asakusa Store Rengoku… it’s funny and sad that he’s still here. With the recent La Bu Bu boom, the cute Monchhichi dolls are also skyrocketing in popularity ❤️🔥 It’s amazing that a character from 1974 is trending again. I grabbed some Don Quijote PB sesame garlic products, and some sesame dressing, and even a Sanrio bath bomb. When the bath bomb dissolves, these cute characters appear. The duty-free checkout line was packed, so I panicked and ran away 🫨 I ended up paying at the regular register, leaving a few items behind… Back at the hotel with tired legs. Ending the day with the items I scored today. Look forward to the next video! Next The end of Episode 1 in Tokyo
