In the midst of all this, I heard that a certain restaurant in Tagata County serves delicious set meals, so I hope this will be helpful for those of you who have been wandering around looking for set meals for the past few days. I made a video about this restaurant. If you are heading from Mishima on Route 136, just past the Izu Jukan Expressway and heading south, you will come to the restaurant just before Gomi Hachijin on the left and Chateraise on the right. The restaurant we are looking for today is Taiyo Shokudo, located in Kannami Town, Tagata District. They serve a variety of dishes, from standard set meals to daily specials. Their opening hours are 11am-2pm and 5pm-9pm, and they are closed on the first Sunday and Monday of each month, as well as on other irregular days. There is parking for 2 cars along Route 136 and 10 cars directly in front of the restaurant entrance, and the parking lot is flat and concrete, so it should be easy to park your motorcycle. There is also a no-parking area towards the back, so it may be a good idea to check the sign at the entrance before entering. Now, let’s go! Welcome to the restaurant! The interior is bright and has a relaxed atmosphere, just like a typical set meal restaurant. There are four seats at the counter, two tables for two, and four tables for four, accommodating a maximum of 24 people. On the walls of the restaurant, there are autographs of various people and information on location lunches used during various shoots. Let’s take a look at the menu. Starting with fried foods, there is the Fried Oyster Set, Crab Gratin Croquette Set, and Chicken Cutlet Set. There is mayonnaise as a topping (fees apply), and there are large, medium, and small servings of rice. Next up are the stir-fried ginger pork set, the Stir-fried Meat, Chives, and Bean Sprouts Set, the Delicious Stir-fried Pork Belly Set, the Stir-fried Pork and Kimchi Set, and the Beef Stamina Set . Next up are the Chinese dishes . There are set meals such as stir-fried pork with green peppers, mapo tofu set meals , and egg fried rice, and the set meals come with a small side dish, pickles, rice, and miso soup, and if you order each item separately, there is a 150 yen discount.Next , there is a choice of ginger pork and a double set, which includes a great value set of ginger pork and fried chicken, ginger pork and chicken cutlet, or ginger pork and hamburger.Next, there is ramen, which includes soy sauce ramen, salt ramen, pork bone ramen, special miso ramen, and sun char siu noodles, and the toppings are butter and char siu.Next is the drink menu. They have draft beer, bottled beer, tarhai, highballs, shochu, bottled drinks on hold , and soft drinks. They also seem to have various party plans. For example, they offer 2 hours of all-you-can-drink and an assortment of hors d’oeuvres for 3,500 yen and up. They also seem to accept bento boxes according to budgets for events, and they also accept catering for outcall meals. Ask the staff for more details. The table service looks like this: they have sauce, soy sauce, chili pepper, and mustard. Now that our order is complete, we will wait patiently for the food to arrive. First of all, this! Draft beer is 650 yen including tax. If you’re not driving, you’ll definitely drink it! Kimchi is included as a snack. With this, you can wait patiently until your food arrives. From the stir-fry, we have the Beef Stamina Set Meal for 1,350 yen. As mentioned earlier, the set meal comes with a small side dish, pickles, miso soup, and rice. The main dish is a hearty one: beef stir-fried with cabbage, onions, garlic sprouts, and other ingredients for a special flavor . The meat is cut into bite-sized pieces, and the sweet and spicy sauce that pairs well with the vegetables and meat is sure to go perfectly with rice. Since the meat is beef, it’s tender even when grilled, and pairs well with the sauce. It’s so delicious, you’ll want to eat more rice than you’d expect . The rice, too, is quite filling. We also have miso soup, pickles, and a small side dish. The small side dish of seaweed mixed with the scallops also had a gentle flavor and was very delicious. Next up was the Taiyo Char Siu Noodles. It was 1,300 yen. I thought many people would be curious about what ramen from a set meal restaurant would be like, so I ordered it. I know I sounded like I was trying to sound good, but the truth is, I just wanted to eat it (lol). When I ordered, I was asked, “Would you like rice?”, so I eagerly replied, “Please.” Of course, I’ll take anything that’s given to me, except for when I’m sick. By the way, the noodles are thin and straight, and the slightly thick soup clings to the noodles. Next is the main dish of this ramen, the pork slices . They’re soft and well-cooked, and the seasoning is good, so it’s very tasty. They’re also quite thick, so it’s satisfying to eat. There are five pieces of this satisfying pork slice, so it feels like a great deal. The delicious, tender pork slices are very satisfying, so if they were on the menu as a snack, I’d enjoy them with beer. Next is the soy sauce-flavored soup . The crisp, thick soup goes well with both the noodles and the pork slices, and it was delicious. The rice I eagerly ordered came with pickles. It felt like a better deal, and best of all, the rich soup and rice went perfectly together. I also received a stamp card when I paid. I thought it would be hard to convey just how good this place is with just two dishes, so I decided to come back to Taiyo Shokudo on another day. The menu is extensive, with so many things I wanted to try, I arrived undecided on what to order. Let’s get started! ♪ The whiteboard next to the entrance lists today’s recommendations, which are a bit more affordable than ordering normally. They also have a top 5 ranking of popular items, as well as student discounts. If you come wearing your school uniform, you’ll get a 100 yen discount on all set meals except for the recommendations. How about that? Do you have the courage to wear a school uniform at your age? …But that’s not the case lol So, first of all I ordered a bottle of beer. I regret not talking about such stupid things until I was drunk. 💦 This time I ordered the Ginger Pork & Fried Chicken Set Meal for 1,350 yen including tax from the double set that you can choose between Ginger Pork and Fried Chicken. It ‘s a luxury! This is an extremely rare special collaboration set meal (sideways). For someone like me who is fast approaching their growth stage, this set meal is perfect. ♪ The set meal comes with a small side dish, pickles, miso soup and rice. Just like last time, I was surprised by the amount of rice this time too. I decided to start with the Ginger Pork. The meat is cut into bite-sized pieces, making it easy to eat, and the strong ginger flavor and sauce are great, so it goes down well with rice . Next is the fried chicken. The fried chicken was slightly on the small side, so it was bite-sized and easy to eat, which was nice, but because it was small, some parts were a little less juicy. The cabbage was also generously portioned, so it was a very filling and satisfying set meal. The rice, which was like a large portion, the side dishes, pickles, and miso soup were all delicious. The set meal, which had two hearty main dishes, was a very satisfying meal. Next up was the Chinese dish, egg fried rice for 1,000 yen. The ramen I ordered the first time I came was surprisingly delicious, so this time I ordered fried rice. The fried rice came with salad, miso soup, and a separate plate of pickled ginger. The fried rice itself was moist rather than light and crispy, and the seasoning was good, but as the name suggests, it’s “egg fried rice,” so that can’t be helped. However, since there was delicious pork fillet, I think it would have been even more satisfying if there had been more chunks of pork fillet. Please note that payment is cash only. I also earned two stamps this time. This stamp card allows you to get one stamp each time you eat a set meal, and once you collect 10 stamps, you can earn a bonus. It seems that you can get one of the set meals in this table for free. It’s an amazing service in this day and age, isn’t it? This time, I visited Taiyo Shokudo in Kannami Town, Tagata District. The ramen and fried rice were delicious, but the real attraction is the generous portion of the set meal.
