【城めぐり】二階堂氏の居城　須賀川城　福島県【攻略ルート】

I’m at Sukagawa Station. This time, we’ll visit Sukagawa Castle Ruins from here. Sukagawa City is the hometown of director Tsuburaya Eiji , the creator of Ultraman. Monuments to Ultra Heroes and Monsters line the streets of town. It’s also the town that Matsuo Basho visited in “The Okuno Hosomichi.” You can see historical sites related to Basho here. Let’s check the route on the map. This is Sukagawa Station, our current location. Our destination is Sukagawa Castle Ruins. It’s about a 20-minute walk from the station. We’ll visit several other attractions in order. Let’s go straight away. We’ve arrived at the ruins of Sukagawa Castle , Nikaido Shrine. Sukagawa Castle was built in 1399 by Nikaido Yukitsugu. It later became the residence of the Nikaido clan, but was attacked by Date Masamune in 1589. The lord of the castle at the time was Onami-no-Kata, the wife of Nikaido Moriyoshi. Onami-no-kata was Date Masamune’s aunt. Masamune demanded his surrender, but she refused and fought to the death. However, the castle fell due to betrayal by his allies. Masamune bestowed Sukagawa Castle on the Ishikawa clan. Later, the Uesugi and Gamo clans occupied the castle, and it was abandoned during the reign of the Kato clan. Let’s take a look at the layout map. Sukagawa Castle is laid out in a teikaku style, with the Honmaru (main enclosure) surrounded by the Ninomaru and Sannomaru (second and third enclosures). Most of the remains have disappeared, but Nikaido Shrine remains here, at the site of the Honmaru. It is a Soto Zen temple called Choshoin. 【Sagara Tokyuku Haiku Monument】 You can see the remains of Sukagawa Castle’s earthworks and dry moat. This is Otakiya Shrine. Castle seals are sold here. The Tsuburaya Eiji Museum is located on the 5th floor of the Sukagawa Civic Exchange Center, Tette. 【Yui-no-tsuji】 【Statue of Basho and Sora】 【Sukagawa-juku】 【Garden of Tokyu】 【Furyu no Hajimekan】 【Chestnut Garden】 【Kanshinan ruins】 【Junenji Temple】 We took a break here. This is the Juwari Soba Kai Sukagawa Main Branch. First, I had draft beer. Then I had tempura soba and more draft beer. Yes, it was delicious. It was a feast. My favorite historical figure is Matsuo Basho. For someone of the Ultraman generation who loves castles and Basho, it was a very inspiring town. That’s all for today’s video.
